well the vr4 is dead again engine this time

so does anyone know of someone who is good and foughly how much it will cost

nothing fancy just a stock rebuild

cheers aaron

dead stock rebuild? are you taking the engine out? and are you sure stock? lol....

with cost of standard parts being close in many instances to forged parts.....save a little cash and have a tougher motor.

It depends on your circumstances but have you considered doing the rebuild yourself? Or at the very least removing the engine yourself and just having a workshop do the technical stuff. I've got a very limited technical knowledge but have just semi rebuilt my second motor. It was a steep learning curve but well worth it in the end, just for the experience if nothing else.:)

Depends what you mean by 'dead' motor and what needs replacing. You're not going to just slap it all together to save a buck and get it back on the road or you'll end up with a 'dead' motor again in no time at all lol. If the bores a still good you've saved yourself a lot of $$$$.

You need to ask your self what you really want out of the car.
A stock rebuild can still give you plenty of power if you up the boost.

But then again if you have the engine out might as well do the basic mods

Clean up ports and lite polish.
Metal Head gasket.
Balance shaft eliminate kit
New water pump, timing belt

I'm pretty sure trist knows what he wants, he's been around long enough to have already asked himself the basic questions.

There are plenty of good mechanics around, but I don't know of anything out your way sorry trist. There's always the "regular" tuning shops on here, but tbh you'd probably be better off PMing dougmo and seeing what his new work can do for you, it's way closer to you too being in ringwood/nunawading.

so many questions
