Hey, new to the RVR game, only just picked up my HSG this morning.

Been looking at a new engine (dunno why)

are other evo engines able to be put in the HSGs?

later model evo motors are mounted 180 degrees the other way, would be a pain in the ass when you have a perfectly good base engine to start with ;)

evo 1,2 and 3 will fit the RVR. later than this and as mentioned above....it will be hard work and costly but could be done. I suggest it wouldnt be worth the gain however as the engine you have could be forged and built as a stroker 2.3 liter cheaper :)

there is plenty of hidden potential in an RVR engine...depending which one you have.

thanks for the quick replys, any places in perth good for RVR work?

need a few things fixing on the car

Need service doing, noisy lifters fixing, gearbox leak, PS leak and few other stuff (its what a old service sheet said what needs doing)

have taken cars to Tony Flood at Flood Motorsports before, but its a bit of a drive to drop a car in Welshpool from Rockingham
Have heard mixed reviews of Sik em rex racing in Mandurah, but its close to me

I have known tony for a long time.....probably 30 years. while he is a good guy I wouldn't send my Mitsubishi to him. He always was a toyota and nissan bloke.

If I was to send you somewhere in that neck of the woods it would be to Mal Crockeberg.

as to sik em rex.....dont really know. BUT why do you want race car people to work on your car?

the minor service is just an oil and filter change. Air filter if necessary. A major is a bit more but still not hard.

gear box leak will probably be a cv shaft seal.....or maybe the shifter shaft seal which would suck!

lifters are easy too..

PS leak....rack or pump?

all is easy stuff to do.

so does your nick name mean you MRS z as in the wife of mr z?

I owned a few 300ZX and its my username on few forums, im a female, my fiance works nights so i come on here and look for answers to get him to do the work :p

as for getting race places to work on the car, just that Sik Em Rex Racing is a sponsor of our local car club, have taken few cars there, Tony has worked on my old MR2 and is really good mates with the old owner of the car, has also worked on few mates subis, was wondering if he knew his Mitsubishis aswel.

well if he is good with a spanner and has the time...i am happy to discuss with him how to do the items above.

if he doesn't want to do it..... I could do it before my shoulder operation...... but that would need to be this weekend.

the car is in getting serviced at the moment, dropped into the shop to see how its going, hes changed all oils and said the front diff oil was black, said he thinks its never been changed.

said the lifters are passed it, need changing, he quoted $1200 for changing them!?!?!?!

also have problems with the starter motor, wont always start 1st time around, so hes trying to fix that also, he said apart from that there is no problem and car will be ready for Powercruise next week!!

wow....$1200 to change lifters...i got 3g lifters in mine, they cost me $130 to purchase, and $80 to fit them...

just picked it up, all done and working, starter motor fixed, few little noises still but he said they're nothing to worry about.

thats what i was thinking price wise for lifters...
