EOI: 294mm disc and twin piston brake upgrade

yeah must be either the discs or the calipers, measure the diiscs should be 276mm diameter, if they are right must be the calipers. that will give you shudders and all.

they are not normal twin pots from the look, if you see the cage around the caliper, the that runs by the hub on the disc, its spaced out. like the whole caliper is offset.

i can sell just the disc yeah no issue, but dont think it would work, your disc should be 276mm this upgrade one is 294, so its a extra 18mm in diameter, so half of that is 9mm radious, dont look like your sit out 9mm extra?

Don't mean to hijack the thread but xjokux those calipers don't sit in far enough on the hub compare your first pic with mine and I think you'll see where the 5mm overhang is coming from.

caliper looks the same as on the pic posted by 'philsth' and if the disc is 276mm then your spacers are wrong.

GSR, the spacers only "space" the caliper out, to account for the additional width of the rotor face.

you can not "space" the caliper forward unless you do something funky/strange with an adapter braket.

here are my calipers, the same as philsth's





i highlighted the area where you can see "xjokux's" calipers are atleast 5mm spaced forward.

those calipers or hubs must have different mounting postions.


either way, it means you can run bigger rotors.

So if these utilise the normal twin pot pads, i'm assuming the caliper itself is the same. Are the ones you're selling just a different cage/bracket/whatever you want to call it, as i already have the 276mm setup? Can i use my caliper with the spaced out bracket and bigger rotor?

paul, the caliper is very simular to the normal 276 setup, it really is just a different bracket on the caliper by the looks of it. there is no adaptor or anything to go in between, they are a different caliper, they just take the same pad, so would need to be changed.

craig, wouldnt just a slightly smaller disc give this effect though? i know people have ordered vr4 rotors and been given normal galant rotors before.

simon, yea a smaller rotor would have the affect in the photos, but i dont think it is the rorot this time. when you compare a 276 to a 25* sized rotor, the hub of the rotors are still the same size, cleary in the picture the cage of the caliper is spaced away from the rotor hub.

also, if the hub of the rotor was smaller, it would not fit on the machined stub axles?

something has to be odd with the caliper.

ah ok, my bad, ihv only assumed that its also required to space it forward as i have tried
fitting twin spot caliper(from a TR/S magna) on a gsr hub with standard disk still attached just to see how it will sit and i could not bolt it up.
It could not reach the mounting points on the hub by 5mm or so as it was touching the disk. That made me think it
would definately need to be spaced forward in order to fit 276mm disks.

So it has to be the hubs that are different knowing that calipers are the same as
vr4 or evo1-3 other then the brake line fitting :unsure:

im pretty sure their 276mm rotors, Im on the side of where something is up with my calipers


this is the spacing clearance i have between them and 15' rims, about 2-3mm. obviously less than what a vr4 has. actually i had to grind the piston edge a bit due to touching the inner rim. Seeing as though vr4 came with 15" stock with same size rotors n calipers, i was sure i would have more enough room.




i'll take more photos of the calipers of itself and compare then.

yeah something up with caliper for sure, the spacers used in a cb only bring the caliper outwards to offset the change to floating rotors, the calipers them selves take it out to the 276mm. obviously your calipers are diff as craig said with the gap between the center hub part of the rotor as all the misti discs have the same center diameters.

GSR come see me some time and ill show you how you do the twin pots properly, think i still have some spacers left too.
