If you live in adelaide, you will have to take it the regency inspection station to get it rego'd here. They won't know about the engine being a swap, however they will probably do you for the intake pipe, all you'd need is a stock intake and you will be fine. Oh.. hmm they will probably think it is a turbo conversion, you'll probably need to take something in to prove that they came AWD turbo. (I doubt they have ever seen one hehe) All aftermarket computers/engine management is illegal, you'll have to make sure that it drives without one, or hide it really well.

It is quiet apparently, no obvious massive frontmount. They are bastards though and hate turbo cars, the guy who inspected my car remembered my car a year later and tried quite hard to get me in the shit for something. They only need to do you for three things to get a major defect and therefore require a roadworthy.

I know in melb you can have all my piping plus cooler as long as its a plumb back bov and you have a AFM, if I wrapped it in heat wrap then painted it black it would look factory I reckon

plus i spent around $1600 on the exhaust so its a real sleeper, everything is tucked up underneath, even though its a 3" straight off the turbo to the rear magnaflow (also the hiflow cat, and massive resinator), and the GTpumps manifold
 
hmm might take it thru regency with a stock intake pipe. has it got stock computer? worst that can happen is they defect me, which means i then take it back fix it, and if they doubble defect me they can only check the seccond time whats already been done :p
 
Nah the ADR's state that it's illegal to modify anything before the turbo, we don't have intercooler restrictions here like in victoria though. It probably doesn't matter which car it comes from, even a VR4 stock intake will be fine, so long as the carbon canister is there and plumbs into the intake, and the PCV and BOV are plumbed into it too. If it is a steel pipe, they will know it isn't stock.

Oh, make sure the engine number is from a newer car than the lancer, they check, and if the engine is older, they will never ever approve it.
 
it runs the standard computer still with a piggy back emanage though

Im pretty sure the engine number is the same year (1990)

I got that one because it all just plugs in with no mods to loom and I know all the engine mounts fit straight up to so it was a easy engine conversion

I still have the vr4 afm and I also have the 055maf and plugs already wired up to which I will be putting in the car
