Hi guys,
I am a little torn at the moment, i had a accident in my borg and need to cash to fix it. but really still wana keep this gearbox as its a super rare find.
anyway:
it a evo 1 or 2 gearbox(can get numbers) its a 3.909 ratio.
It has an unknown brand mechanical front LSD and center mechanical LSD with a viscous spline lock. I took the center diff to a mitsi specialist here and he said he has never seen one like it before, but im quite sure it would work very well.
the rest of the gearbox look to be in super nice like new condition inside, it is currently open for inspection.
being a rare thing and the after market goodies i am after $2600 for this gearbox. would be great for drag or race but would probably still be fine for road use also.
i can get some pictures for anyone interested. wil try to post some up soon.
pick up from adelaide or i can have it shipped at buyers expense also.
EOI at this stage, dont want to sell it, but for the right money it would get my car back on the road.
cheers simon.

ok can do, i have a couple of pics on my phone only at the moment, cant find the cable for the camera, will have to find it tomorrow. its obviously all jap made as this box came direct from a importer, but its all crispy inside ill take pics, can even get it checked out for someone serious.
cheers simon

had a slight rear ender the other night in the wet, nothing to serious or major, no rails bent or anything, just have no cash after house reno's, and still dont have floors and stuff so its not a good time cash wise.

yes thats right, plate type mechanical, camera is charging at the moment so will have some pictures in a couple of hours. i have never seen anything like it before, it runs a spline lock and this mech center. pics will be up soon.

Very interesting.

The only issue is that the centre diffs are quite small and the clutch packs would be rather small also..

BUT it would sure be better than a locked centre on a drivability point of view...

by the looks of its consruction it looks much stronger than what the normal 2 spider center would be. i guess you can only make it as big as the box allows, they gears machined into the housing go right up the side of the diff itself so it looks as though they have made it as larger as possible. and yes the driveablity would be much better, and really the preloads could be changed to vary this also. anyway pictures tell a thousand words so soon you can have a look.

Can you measure the actual size of the centre diff please?

I'm just wondering if it would be capable of holding much torque due to the limited size of the centre diff itself...

How many platesare inside?
Do you know what make the plates are for future servicability?

i can measure the diameter for you no worries, not sure about the plates though i might be a bit scared to pull it part. it did have a twin plate clutch behind it and rear mech lsd also. although it doesnt look like it has done many KM at all from the insides. it still has thick grease in parts that they have used to keep things in place durin assembly.

sorry also dont know the brand. but would be nice to know. i did take it to show mike dale here in sa and he hasnt seen one like it before.

ok the diameters are not exact but very very close. the smallest diameter is 96mm next to its drive splines, and it tapers out to 105mm. i spoke to a driveline specialist we use at work about it and he has seen a few different ones before, and said generally they work well as they center the load inside the diff instead of sending torque out of the diff the the viscous and then back through splines and so on.

it doesnt accually have a VCE sorry it is only a spline lock to lock the awd output shaft in place.
