Purchased a GSR ECU with a MEEK chip for 560cc injectors, EVO airflowmeter and 272/272 cams to run in my EVO, but have now decided to run with an EVO ECU and have that chipped instead.

Looking for $550 + postage out of Melb.

* BUMP *

Want to get rid of this ECU guys, will take $500. I'm copping a loss on this one but I guess that's what you get for rushing into a buy

just a quick question - so someone needs to have those exact mods on their GSR for the chip to be effective right?

MEEK wrote the chip based on the cam, injector, airflow meter and fuel pump specs I gave him. He told me he has a base program that he plugs those particular parameters into and the chipped ECU does the rest.

I was told to get another chip re-burnt (ie if any of the specs changed or the base program needs to be modified) that it would be cheap. Apparently the expensive part of the operation is actually putting the chip in the ECU in the first place.

Only reason I'm selling it is because the GSR ECU requires a bit of f*cking around with the EVO wiring harness that I'm not prepared to do.

so meek wrote the chip for you?
did he also send it away to get the caps replaced, and the board cleaned?
has he told you how much it would cost to re-write the chip?

You know you could probably put that chip that meek has burnt for you into an evo ecu. Its really not that hard to socket the ecu so you can replace chips as you wish. I did mine, which is running my gsr with evo running gear with 264 intake and 272 exhaust cams happily.

Yeah I was also thinking of that option. You know anybody who could do that?

I'd rather keep it and use what I could out of it, I just don't want an expensive paperweight sitting on my desk!

i have a chipped evo ecu sitting here.. hehehehehe it doesnt have a eeprom tho .. i use it for emulating with tuner pro software.

I'm sure andrew would have an evo ecu laying around for you for a reasonable price. As for socketing the ecu, its not really hard. Like i said i did mine.
But with that said, for the stroker your probably better off running a stand alone management system, unless your just doing this to run the engine in?

I've picked up standard EVO ECU from Andrew to run the engine in on. It's the big picture that I'm starting to think of. I haven't pulled the ECUs apart yet to see what would be involved in transplanting the chip from the GSR to the EVO ECU.

Maybe a stand alone system is required? I don't know.

For the big picture, i would definately be looking into getting an aftermarket system for the stroker.

As for swapping the chips, if you have the right type of evo computer, it should just be a matter of desoldering the IC on the evo computer, soldering in a socket, and plugging your other chip into it. Just like i've done with mine.
