these clusters go to 240km/h and mine only goes to 180 so my question is how involved is it to fit the evo gauges in?? is it even possible??
what would need to be changed/modified?

'EVO' galants speedo's only go to 180km........

you must be talking about an A-spec speedo

i'm pretty sure you'll need to get it re-calibrated

hard to do??
not worth the hassle?

I dont see the point, unless your constantly going over 180kph?

I actually prefer the 180k speedo. The lines that mark the different speeds are spaced out more, which means its easier to see which speed your exactly doing :)

Need a different speedo cable and speedo drive in the box. Also need to swap some pins from the dashes around on the back. More fucking around than its worth.

or you could get one of these babies

But the speedo would be out. Just cos the new gauge is there doesnt mean the needle will automatically adjust. IE when the needle is going as far as it can it will only be 180k's not 240k's.

which is why i asked what was involved in getting it to work so that it does go all the way to 240...
its like those Nismo 300km/h speedos that you can get for an r33

it should have a converter built in to work properly

Youc an't get convertors for a vr4, it's not that simple. Our speedo's are mechanically driven not electronic like a skyline.

Skylines you can get a convertor that just fucks with the signal and thus reads the correct speed. For us we have to physically change over the drive unit's ratios and use the other cable length etc.

Royal pain in the arse.

well i know with an evo setup.. u just get a gsr 240km centre bit like what taco has posted and you unscrew the 180km one and slap the 240km.. works fine.. reads perfect....

i would assume its the same swap for a vr4...

i've changed an a-spec dial onto a j-spec cluster
the needle has a dampner which sets indicated speed
which can be adjusted or taken to vdo or similar
to be calibrated they can also allow for bigger wheels
& tyres

you could just put the one in tharaka's pic in and it would work
no dramas as that needle is set for that dial
notice the bottom corner of the pic
it gives a scale of revs\km they are the same j-spec and a-spec
so there can't be much in it
