Hi i was just wondering if anybody could do a ruff diagram on how you get power to your evo 1 2 3 ecu ,
I am doing an e2 engine conversion to my van im about to do the ecu , i was going to go aftermarket but thought i would try the stock ecu first , i have traced some wireing on the loom and read lots from this forum , just starting i am just not 100% sure where i put power onto the ecu, do i just tap onto pins 12 or 25 on the ecu , do i power up the mpi relay or is there another wire or plug i can trace back , along with the ecu plugs on the loom there are two other long plugs witch to me look like the power supply may come from , metering the wires they seem to goto mfi relay where i am not sure witch contacts switch , but the black and yellow wires that are supossed to have constant power (from what i have read) seem to goto the ecu , im not sure if power should be going from the ecu to the mfi or if the power suply comes from mfi to ecu ,

I have seperate relays for fuel pump and fans so not sure if i need mfi , everytnhing else should just lug in (hopefully)
any help or advice would be great as im trying to not fry anything if i can help it :) thanks

mate you will have to download the evo/gsr electrical manual and nut it out, i wouldnt risk it without checking it out yourself.
i presume you have this, you need to compare it to the loom you have.

i think it switched power at pin 12,25 and constant power at 60

you need to download the general electrical manual and time to piece it together.

gsr is close, it will get you 90% of the way

hey mate thanks for info ive got the pin outs on the ecu , I think its coming together just mounting everything on a tempory board for now hopefully try it out this afternoon , fingers crossed for no smoke :)
im just useing the other two plugs off the loom that are close to the ecu plugs, I did find a good schematic of that mpi relay someware i think but cant seem to find it again, may need to take the caseing off and see what pins switching , i did find on here the wire colors and pin numbers witch are verry handy just not 100% sure witch ones do the switching ,

if you are using the loom as well, there is a 6pin plug with a couple of yellow wires, green/black and a black/yellow and couple of others. the black/yellow is the power feed for the ecu and it needs power. i missed this on my conversion, and caused me to backtrack a bit.
the plug used to live under brake master cylinder on the chassis rail. it is on the branch that runs along firewall after the injectors and engine stuff branches off. it is fed power from the ecu relay (or fuse?)

good luck

the mpi relay info is in that general electrical manual. some of the wire colours may be different, but the plug positions will be correct as that relay is used in heaps of mitsubishis

hey man thanks alot for the info , i have got things ticking so i think im on track , and no smokeing witch is good :) been pretty busy with work so havnt had much time, once i get intercooler pipe work finished and everything tightened tidey up and double checked i will wire in fuel pump and fans and let it rip, try to put some pictures up not to good on the old forums but here are the links

Looking good. The only thing I would do different is to throw that chocolate box connector in the bin and solder and shrink wrap the joint. What thermostat and water pipe arrangement are you doing?

is there a chance you can pop the cover off your ucu and post a pic?
i am particularly interested in how many ic drivers you have on your board.
look at 2nd pic in post #180 here:

under the magnifying glass are the ic drivers, do you have 5,6 7, or 8 chips present. in particular, in ic110 (or the one that is missing on my board) are yours populated?

Yes i will do these are just to make sure it goes and so i kno i have the right amount of wires to solder and wrap and not adding any later on , it also wont be mounted on the board. if i couldn't get it to work i was just going to have to splash out on programmable ecu thermostat is just all factory had to cut fear bit out the back but should be pretty easy to make a nice cover , all water pipes run in "1/8th copper all silfosed together useing copper elbows bends ,
