Have a evo 1 ecu with a mines chip, can this be used in my jspec vr4?
Does anything need to be changed to make this work?????
Any help would be appreciated

In short. No.

Theoretically it could work, but not without re-wiring the whole loom which would cost you squillions.

Thanks dre for the quick reply.
Looking at running bigger injectors 510 plus evo3 turbo will the stock ecu handle this????

Only if you get it chipped. You should pull it out and see if it is the right ECU for chipping (single board, EPROM). Do a search for some more info if you get confused.

Best place for a mines ecu is in the bin imo.

They are a 'one size fits most' band aid solution to tuning, basically adding a bunch of extra fuel, and the timing is much to advanced for local fuel. (my ex flatmate has a couple of RB20 pistons with chunks missing from the sides as a testament to this).

It wouldn't be too difficult to fit a set of gsr ecu plugs to the vr4 wiring loom - you wouldn't even need a soldering iron or wirecutters, just an ecu pinout for each of them, a small flathead screwdriver (to remove the locks that holed the wires into the plug) and some patience.

I'm considering doing this due to the lack of eprom ecu's for sale locally.

this is kinda what im tryna work out.

ive got vr4 motor
gsr loom and evo 1 ecu with chip. since the loom plugs in to the ecu i dont have that problem but.. would the evo 1 ecu run the vr4 motor properlly? if i just rewire the cam angle sensor? or do i have to put in all the throttle body and shit

that link is broken or something dude i get this when i click on it

aw naw i got it but i dont see how that answers my question?

'would evo 1 ecu with gsr loom and vr4 motor work if i rewired the vr4 CAS to fit the loom?'

I already answered your question in the first post on this thread mate. EVO ECU's dont plug into VR4 looms.

The link (which still works for me btw) was discussion on wiring in a re-flashable EVO 7 ECU into earlier model (E1-3, GSR) lancers

dre i think what he is tryin 2 say is he doesnt have a VR4 Loom, he has a GSR loom. so the ecu plugs into the loom no problem but would it run everything?

Ah my bad- I thought I was replying to the guy who first started the thread

The only way you can run a GSR with a 2.0 would be with an EVO ECU......

The info is all in the other thread that GSRONP has started!
