Hey guys, just wanted to know how tell if a car is actually a genuine evo 3 ( appart from telling by the vin nd plate # )

Evo has more supports in the engine bay and in other areas of the shell itself
antenna is on the rear left guard
front guards are wider then gsr
but it's almost too easy to visually make a gsr look like an evo...once you know the differences you can tell just by looking :)

GSRWRC- obvious hadnt thought about jdm vs. Aus gsr

Yeah, it'd help if the guy was more specific as to whether he's worried about buying a converted GSR (Au Spec or JDM), or an Evo I/II with III kit. (For the record Evo I/II GSRs had the antenna on the rear 1/4 too. RS's had it on the drivers A-Pillar)

Hey guys thanks for the help..
And i just wanted 2 find out 100% if my lancer was a genuine evo 3. After having afew guys look at it over the w/e I guess it is genuine but a RS not GSR ill post some pics soon

You can do a lot to make a GSR look like an Evo but it takes a lot of mucking around that you might as well have bought an Evo in the first place lol.
But there's a major difference you cant replicate on a GSR because it involves something you cant bolt in or remove and spot weld back into position - the length of the chassis rails!!!
When you remove the front bar, look at how far the chassis rail sits out from under the driver's headlight.
I took a pic about 3 years ago comparing EVO vs GSR in that particular location and stumbled on the difference by accident.
Not at home at the moment, but will post up a pic later to show you.

Edit - here it is

Interesting. Have you compared it to a CD9A Evo I? I have a hunch it'd be the same as a CD5A as they seem to share a lot more suspension design than the CE9A does with CD9A.
