Can anyone tell me what the stock E4 turbo is? i have seen people making 180kw at all 4 wheels using a stock E3 turbo... but dont know what is on the E4. or how much laggier the 16g is. i heard its something like a 10.5g or some rubbish.......

A: does anyone know what the stock E4 turbo is?

B: does anyone know what the stock E4 turbo can make AWKW

C: has anyone seen a trust td05-16g on an E4? how much powa? how laggy? and how bolt on is it?

rather demanding for a first post but i cant seem to find much info searching :)

thanx yo.

well thats the thing.... im trying to find out what is on my E4 and see what i need to do to acheive the most from it

180 awkw would be nice, or depending on what i can get from the stock turbo. im guessing iv got bout the 120wkw now.

what is the stock boost aswell? im just running a 3 inch catback.

A) Its a TD05 Big 16G.

B) Should be able to make 200kw atw comfortably

C) IIRC The Trust TD05's use T3 or T25 flanged turbos, so you'd need to change your exhaust manifold. I'd upgrade to a TME or EVO 9 RS turbo myself, or an EVO green or something

that is awesome.. already got pretty much the right turbo.

do you know what is stock boost? i mean i could just put a boost guage in it :p but yeah, wouldnt mind knowing before hand. Plus what is max boost on that turbo... without megadeath lol

sounds about right i run mine on 15 psi an sometime on 20-up to 22 psi on a tdo5 16g but thats on an evo1 my stock boost is lower but i believe the e4 is about a bar

I reckon your starting point based on Evo4 206kw(engine) would be 145-155Kw ATW.

Turbo is TD05HR(reverse scroll) 16G.

Means an Evo1-3 turbo will not fit.

Max boost I reckon 25psi MAX as with most 16g's

I Aggree with Dre on the Evo9RS turbo. Great upgrade.

evo 4 run the 9T rear housing as opposed to the 10.5 rear evo 5/6/6.5/8MR and 9's have.

e7s and 8s have the 9.8T rear

one of the evo 4 guys just upgrded to an evo 5 turbo n says its made a huge difference and is now pushing 234kws.

Evolution 1

All Evo 4-8 Turbos are twin scroll designs meaning that the engines exhaust is divided into two channels (see first pic). As the engine exhausts in pulses.. its supposed to result in quicker spooling. From the Evo 4 onwards, the Turbo spins in the opposite direction, i.e. Anticlockwise (hence the R in the turbo name). The Titanium Alumnide alloy used in the RS/RS2 and some GSRS (factory option) has less inertia and thus spins up around 500 rpm sooner. These Titanium turbos can be indentified by the A in their name.

nice, sounds like i know what to keep an eye out for now.

what is reliability like on my stock E4 with upped boost. both for the turbos sake and the motor...

i know on my old SR i pushed my stock t25g to bs pressures and it still doesnt have a single bit of shaftplay, plus the SR ecu always kept it rich enough to hack the boost and it didnt need anything to help.

Are you talking about stock turbo or stock E4?

I'm not sure if you're familiar with MHI turbos, but mitsubishi are up there with the world leaders of turbo technology- thats why subaru's used mitsubishi turbo's up until recently!

20 year old VR4 turbos are still going strong to this day.

i only just got my E4 so i dont reeeallly want to pull it apart just yet. im fairly impressed with how it goes as is and its stock appart from a catback..

if i was to do the front section of the exhaust and up the boost i think itd be more than quick enough for me, after all i bought it for handling rather than speed, yet im just worried about how many psi it can actualy hold...

if its guaranteed to hold 20 no worries ill push it up there no 2nd thoughts hahaha

P.S. i know jack shit about mitsu turbos :p

you will probably want to get some sort of air/fuel controller at least.

then get the car tuned to 20 psi

First, get a boost gauge.
Then get a front pipe for your exhaust
Pod filter

Then add a couple more psi

then see how you like it, and keep going from there :)

cant keep upping the boost as it will probably be running lean.

as my car was starting to run a bit lean on 18psi

So your saying that you cant up the boost 2psi without getting your AFR's checked?
