Hey guys,

You all see the EVO 8 on Top Gear?
Had no problem keeping up with a lambourgini.
Had no problem keeping it controlled, it was predictable the whole way.

The "Negatives":
You have to know how to use a clutch...
Surprisingly If your 2 gears away from the gear you want, maybe even 3 there wont be any boost and you wont accelerate...LOL i normally enjoy top gear but that was a bit far fetched :?

Still they gave it big wraps.

Yeah top gear is good but it is always far fetched. But how nice did it look each time is had over steer!
This guy needs to know how to use a clutch! I mean come on it?s a sports car built on the foundation of a rally car the clutch is going to be difficult.

it's pretty dumb though

my vr4 with a tiny turbo would still take ages to get up to speed if you chucked it in 5th and did 20k's with it...

You need to get to about 80kmh (45mph) to get a vr4 to start spooling. FQ400's spool at about 4k rpm so that'd be about 105kmh or so (65mph) to START spooling.

I'd say they started at 30mph (55kmh) seeing as he said so, so yeah... the lag sucks.

I don't think it's a case of turbo lag at all, turbo lag to me is more of a case of putting a huge T66 on a 1.3L that doesn't flow nearly enough air to produce full boost until 6.5k when it's all over. Turbo lag to me is not properly matching a turbo to the displacement of a vehicle (which is exactly what I said above).

I actually think with the forged internals of that engine and the thicker head gasket compression has been lowered to take on the extra load placed upon the engine and with such a setup we all know this will decrease low-down torque. I would assume that if the car is making all of its torque by 5k the turbo would be on full noise by that stage, sure not the most streetable package, but fun nonetheless. If the FQ400 isn't your thing there's always the FQ330 ;)
