gday lads/lass s

just wondering if there is much differance between stock gsr fuel pump and evo 3 fuel pump that anyones noticed?
car off road for moment and havent done a road test with fuel press gauge conected.

any one got jdm evo 3 interior loom for sale? would like to get climate controll set up.

GSR 80lph
Evo III 100lph. Not worth the upgrade

A later model Evo Pump is worth looking at, as they're in the 150lph region. Failing that look into 2JZGTE Supra pumps, or FD RX-7 pumps (around 200lph)

* CD5A GSR, Evo 1 fuel pump capacity = 80 l/h
* Evo 2/3 fuel pump capacity = 100 l/h
* Evo 4 fuel pump capacity = 120 l/h
* Evo 5/6 fuel pump capacity = 150 l/h
* Evo 7/8 fuel pump capacity = 180 l/h
* Evo 9 fuel pump capacity = 220 l/h

the later evo pumps are higher than the early 123 in output. ....but since the Chinese havent yet jumped on the deatschwerks band wagon and copied them. You can get a good quality 300l per hour pump that should do the job for most peoples mods.

the chines walbro pumps are so common now that even some reputable sellers* are being duped.......that is why I went with this

http://www.maperformance.com/search.php?mode=search&page=1

* I received a forced performance walbro copy pump from forced performance that craped it self in 3 hours......they would refund if I sent it back but it was going to cost to much to send as once it has had fuel in it, it becomes dangerous goods and the freight to the USA is more than the pump is worth.

so either a 50 dollar evo pump second hand.....or the new deatschwerks brand new for about 200 and not have to upgrade for most other mods down the track.

Search the EVO OZ forum, ive picked up around 2 EVO8 pumps and a EVO9 pump for under $50 :)

Also AEROMOTIVE make a very nice intank pump

do all of the evo pumps fit in the gsr in tank holders with minimal mods? are they quiet in operation?

i didnt get the numbers off my pump while it was out but gee its loud
[/quote

some are loud....some arent. It depends on how it was fitted.

the three main stream pumps walbro, aeromotive and deatschwerks fit with some slight mods to the cradle and top of the pump.

next time you are over i can show you how to make it quiet..a file and some patience = quiet

i like that site brian. check this out.

you could even stage (or have it pressure switched) the second pump and/or have small and large pumps

woo hoo. at what point does the standard fuel line become a restriction and need upgrading?

yep will have to see your methods brian. pita i dont have access panel and have to drop tank to access pump. better do it before put in tail shaft and rear diff.

ok, gents ive been searching on here but no luck...

how easy is it to install a fuel pump? ive got a bosch 040.

im hoping its nothing like my evo 6 (im sure it isnt otherwise i would have found people bitching about it here)

hopefully its just, remove rear seat, remove cover/lines & take out the old pump?

(not interested in electrical mods/relays yet), just access to the pump.

not quite that simple but easy to do.....although I am not that familiar with that pump and memory fails me what it looks like.

take out the back seat.

remove the drivers side inspection cover. you can now see the pump assembly.

you will see some rubber hoses which must now be removed.....there is also a high pressure union visible. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO UNDO IT .....it isnt designed to be removed while connected at the other end of the high pressure hose.{simple.... if you try you will fuck it and the metal pipe it attaches to. get this wrong...you need a new cradle}

jack up the drivers side and put a stand under there for safety......before getting under the car, take off the fuel filler cap.

under the car, remove the bolt which secures the hand brake cable and abs line..

when that is out you can pull the hand brake cable out of the way to get better access to the other end of the high pressure hose.

you will need 14 and a 19mm pipe flare nut spanners to separate the hose from the metal line that runs to the front of the car.

remember to undo the 14mm.....do not turn the 19mm.....as that will just twist the hose. when it is undone and you get a bath in petrol you will remember to take the cap off....at least that is when i do.

so back inside the car.....remove the wiring plug...carefully. they sometimes stick and are hard to get out. BUT, don't be rough as it the plug body goes through the cradle top and could be damaged.

there are some 8mm nuts around the cradle holding it down to the tank....easier to get to them with the hoses off.....and easier to get the hoses off with the top still secured.

ok it is now free.... but it wont come out of there easily and you may need to cut a slot in the floor to get it out. you will see where when you look at how it sits.

last tip...dont over tighten the 8mm nuts or you can snap the studs on the tank.

yes there is some nice gear there...but that looks a bit tall for our tanks. I think there are some around for two pumps on an evo cradle tho

no idea..on the restriction point.

Also with the right up. Last step he mentioned might be hard to pull pump out so cut a slot.

I think a neater way may be as follows

The tank itself is held on by 4 14mm nuts. If u loosen 2 on the drivers side. Dint take them all the way off but loosen them enough so they are a few rotations from off. The tank can then dip well enough and give u plenty of room :)

Or cut the view plate larger and make a custom cover lol

I did that with my coupe before i did the AWD conversion

ive done as few pumps before on other cars, but allways great to hear such specific info for the gsr.

thanks again

Im not too good with info on why a 4g93 would loose oil pressure completely tho.............I fucken hate that car..and...I hate 4g93s!!
