Guys does anyone know which one of the early evo's rear spoilers would
Generate the most downforce?
as I'm looking at trying to generate some actual downforce on the gsr when i take it to the track.
I'm. all so going to make a front spliter out of 6mm hdpe
has anyone who races their car experimented with any type of air'o at all.
Thanks Grant.

If you don't know what your talking about you shouldn't  post misinformation...I think I would know what wing I have on my car...Its definitely a 3 wing and it DEFINITELY doesn't adjust.

A IV wing does not adjust either..However a V and VI do.

Mate that has to be one of the most shameless self plugs of all time :) I'll keep you in mind.
Yes I've seen the supra one's but there more of a bottom lip, I'll be making a spliter which will extend about 80-100mm in front of the bottom lip

If you don't get the aero setup right, you'll unbalance your car and the performance will actually go backwards.

Also - factory wings very very rarely generate enough downforce to really warrant adding one to a car that doesn't already have a spoiler, as they're mainly designed for 1) looks and 2) compliance with legal regulations, not aero.

Just look at the V8 Supercars - they don't go using standard SS or XR8 spoilers - they're all aerofoils.

If you're serious about generating downforce at track speeds, then go for a GT style aerofoil wing spoiler.

i agree partly with ENGINR. but at the time of the Evo1-6mitsubishi was working within the bounds of group A racing and motorsport in mind , so id tend to think the aero development on these evo's was for function and not towards sales.
I would say evo3 but it would also have more drag.

Regarding front bar splitter:
A mate of mine made a splitter out of clear acrylic that ran from under the engine to about 5cm out from the front bar. Seemed to work quite well as his times were always inside the top five. Was invisible to the PO-PO too

Regarding the Evo 3 Rear wing:
It was mentioned to me when I first bought my Evo 3 (by a veteran rally mechanic) that the lower part of the wing was actually the bit that did the most work. I can't remember how exactly but it had something to do with reducing drag and lowering the air pressure on the under-side of the wing ( No Ph-D in aeronautics  )
The above friend also had a CF wing instead of the OEM item.

the underside of the wing is the part that creates the down force, not the top,
so the shape underneath is important to downforce created.
Any stock rear wing will most likely make no downforce at all but will decrease lift

On the front I have even used coreflute and run it as far back under the car as possible, it doesnt need to poke out the front at all.

thats for the evo X but the principles are still the same. im looking at making a diffuser for my front bar in the near future and will be incoperating a few of those features.

Here is what one of the EVO VI's has done.

The rear spoiler is a ebay special the front bar was modified by a guy on the gold coast along with the rear diffuser.
