Will the actual centre fit in the 3 bolt housing , im aware of the need to run 4 bolt axles just want to be sure the centre will fit

This probably won't be helpful, but I think I have something like this. The diff feels like a mechanical LSD to drive. A tiny amount of power and it locks up and I can feel the cars tail squirming around corners. The diff housing is the original open center one going by the sticker on the case. The axles have 3 bolt cups on the diff and 4 bolt ones on the wheel hubs.

Lumpyvr4 could you please post a pic of your diff ? It sounds like you rvr cups in the diff if they are 3 bolt up there then 4 at the hubs , im thinking of making a hybrid shaft and if the rvr cup fits a mech E3 lsd that would be awesome as im having trouble finding vr4 4 bolt shafts

I have a 4 bolt (viscous) that I'd probably sell, but seeing as you live on the other side of the continent it's probably not the most cost effective option :p

i really only need the axles mo , if you would be keen to sell them let me know. i might be able to machine off the viscous part

With a little bit of care, machining off the smaller spline of the viscous shaft and cutting a small groove for the circlip will just work ... just !

Viscous diffs are useless any way .. Who wants them !! Yes, a 1mm cutting blade will work fine with some careful surgery

So 1mm cutting blade on the angle grinder then?

Seems like a bastard job to cut down hard to get viscous shafts to use in a open diff.
Not for use in open diff mate its a e3 mechanical im putting in my vr4

Ive found the front rhd shaft fits the diff , so im goin to have a front shaft welded to a rear shaft.

easy as that , 3 bolt rear shaft and rhd front together to make e3 vr4 shaft

I'm having issues finding a used single axle to steal the end tulip off, can you confirm that the front tulips fit into the evo mechanical LSD?
I've been having a look at the images of the cups, as well as on my car, and they look identical.

The vr4 front cups fit the e3 centre but the tulips dont fit the axles from front to rear , i plan on having my rear axles machined down a bit and have the tulips welded to the axle

I have 2 spare sets of open 3 bolt 3.545 diffs n axles if you can stay 3 bolt and just swap them out if or when you snap 3 bolt axles. But selling complete, axles with diff.
Im in perth pm me if its useful to you.
