Hey guy's , Im not sure if this topic has been covered before..but I was just wondering what part's are involved in this procedure of putting them into my evo 1 gsr.

CVAP.com.au has the lower control arm's for a fairly cheap price , but I was fairly sure that something else was involved. And I just wanted too know if there would be more part's involved , and specially what price these other part's may cost . Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank's guy's.

You may also find CE9a frt kframe is actually different to cd9a size wise also ;)

CE9A arms will fit a CD5A/CD9A subframe though, you just don't get the benefit of the extra track. Doing this conversion on my 4WD Mirage (incl. subframe though) Just got to be creative where it comes to sorting out the swaybar mounts.

hrmm..so i'm better off buying a ce9a k frame and replacing the whole lot? Are these K Fram's pricey? Thank's guy's

Just hard to find someone willing to sell just the Kframe with or without lower control arms.

is it worth it to do the swap or put the money else where?

for example swap everything for the front end i.e. front lower arms, front anti roll bar and front strut but NO Kframe/member?

how about the rear?is there anything else required to put in the rear antiroll bar into a evo1? is there anything else?

The K-frames are not different - only the control arms. I've been told that the E2 and E3 sway bar links break and are very hard to come by to replace.

IMO you're better off keeping the setup you've got and putting your $$$ into something else and if and when you ever get to the point where you're driving ability is out-performing that of your car - THEN look to upgrade from the E1 setup you have.

I've got an E1 drive-line in my Coupe and when I had it at Sandown yesterday the Instructor who took it out for a couple of hot-laps said it handled extremely well and to be honest - the weakest link in the whole setup was me

Yeah , the only reason for me wanting too change was that i drove a evo 3 and could notice how much sharper the steering was. But yeah , i might hold off for a while untill i can find a evo 2/3 sway bar link.

I emailed CVAP , and Andrew wrote a reply saying that the lower control arm's will bolt up , but i'd need a evo 2.3 stabilizer bar. Is this right?

And he also said that if i can't find a stab bar , i could get custom bracket's made up , which would'nt be too hard as i have fabricator's at my work.

That's what he told me too when I was asking the same question regarding upgrading about a month ago.

dude could simply be that fat that shauns evo has newer suspension not driven as hard ettc not just lil differences in control arms etc tires too lots of reasons

IT could of been , but I doubt it. That was one of the main downfall's of the CD9A , the handling wasn't the best.

I don't know but I want them

if you're worried about track, why not just get some lower offset wheels? +35 and theres your 10mm wider than stock ...

..... :? Fair enough. But I'd be cautious about making comments like that - I doubt most of us on this forum would have the driving ability (myself certainly included!) to really honestly push (ie not just through driver error) an EVO1 to its limits.

Please don't think I'm trying to be a smart-arse as the last thing I want to do is isolate myself on this forum, but I think part of being a forum member who wants to be of benefit to the Community involves speaking honestly AND constructively if he feels it might help fellow members. I would hate to think you've spent $$$ and effort based on mis-information when you could get more beneficial gains in other areas at your current level of driving ability.

But - Your modification plan is your modification plan so good luck with it either way.

Nick

when u say stabilizer do u mean sway bar or the actuall link between the strut tower and sway bar..

U shouldn't have custom make anything if ur going to use evo 2,3 strut towers and sway bar, it should all bolt in

im doing this conversion on a cc gsr and everything so far has bolted in just waitng on new front struts...
