Exhaust grounding strap

Hi all,

Question regarding the grounding strap that I see on the back of cars....

My GVR4 doesn't have one. Is this right? Could this be causing a rich condition? (because the voltage differential with respect to battery is different)

Are you talking about the grounding strap that drags along the ground at the back of cars?

Ok im gonna sound like a complete retard....but

I always thought that people put them on because they had some insane notion that it helped motion sickness.

lol.... I thought that they were to stop that static jolt you get from wearing spandex over lycra...

its not for motion sickness, it is to ground the car so it doesn't zap you (static electricity) when u get out or in or touch the car

I only ask because here http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Downs/7678/dsmtests.html it talks about tests you can do for 'simple' things.
The one that caught my eye was the Oxygen sensor:

(2) The exhaust grounding strap can become a problem. This is a very common failure which causes bad mileage due to the car running 'rich'. I'm working on a test for this condition.
