Okay, okay,

im almost at wits end with these friggin transfer case leaks.

history: car was stock, never leaked, replaced engine, used original transfer case, no leaks. destroyed said transfer case into lots of little and big bits. put a spare in, filled up and started leaking out the tail shaft seal straight away.

attempted fixes: replaced tail shaft seal, nope leaks straight away. followed VFAQ and slammed mega amounts of silicone sealant down the tail shaft, let dry for weeks, no change, oil just drips out.

gah, driving me nuts, it will drop all the oil within 3-5 days, or about 1.5 tanks of fuel!

i friggin hate any sort of leak and this one is seriously annoying me!

does anyone else have any ideas on how to stop this thing from dropping its guts on my driveway every night?

as above if you have changed the seals already.

also try a high temp type seal as they are very close to the exhaust.
my gearbox guy reckons standard ones dont last too long with the heat

Mitsubishi revised the Tailshaft yoke as there was a issue with leaking at transfer case and the issue was the Yoke! The ones Meek Auto have been fitting for over 4 years have all been the revised yoke's.
They had a scap metal pick up the other week and tail shaft yoke's alone filled a 40ltr drum and that's just under a years worth.

You may have a worn transfer case seal and *replacing this will be cheaper *IF your yoke has already been replaced or is on a late 1995 model Aspec gsr as some from a good batch from factory, all models before march build date95 all have the old yokes on them.

For the record: Some evo4's and some E5's we had at the workshop have had some of the old yokes on them(But who knows what happens behind closed Japanese workshop's) go figure
Two (yellow plated) EIII's have had at the workshop have had the new revised yokes on them:confused:
