It has been a while since my rvr off the road, spend too much time fixing and find the leaks.
I have put the head back on with new oil pump, belts, seals, gaskets etc. Upon further searches, I suspect oil leak could be coming from between the gearbox and transfer case:
I heard that gearbox and transfer case uses the same oil, and oil travel from gearbox to the transfer case thru a small hole. Could it be I’ve lost the small rubber O ring during my first attempt removing the transfer case? The transfer case didn't budge off after countless of prying open with about 5-10cm gap, and I decided to knock it back in with a mallet, screw those 5 long bolts back on. (Major oil leak started to occur that I though it came from oil pump case seals and start to dismantle the head block, oil sump etc :fuuuuu: ).
Second issue I found a small bearing on the ground while working underneath the car (I didn't pay much attention to it) until I stumble the below post, it mentioned about a 6.33mm bearing in the gearbox output shaft must remained inside the shaft at all time or will cause oil leak. Would the bearing come off the shaft during removal of the transfer case?
I had the oil pan removed while engine is in the car, in order to remove the oil pan I had to slightly move the passenger drive shaft to a side. Oil was coming from the gearbox seal where the drive shaft is shoved in. Is this normal or seal need to be change?
What do you guys think, could it be the above causing the leak? Im so sick of this @!#! lol
If you have the transfer and box seperated it would only be the smart thing to replace all of the seals. Or your going to be right back where you started from.
