Hi guys,

just a quick heads up, the government/cops have started installing fixed speed cameras, there is one on the M1 heading down to the coast, i don't know exactly where though, they are also going up on the story bridge, and the Bruce highway somewhere (i think near caboolture but not sure)

peace

about 2 years ago i said that i am so happy to live in queensland as we didn't have fixed speed cameras but now since the goverment introduced those stupid cameras i better just hand in my licence cause it starts with only 3 cameras and soon all the spots that have speed cameras will be replaced with fixed cameras.

craig it's good to hear that there is one person that cares about others lol!!!!

well done!

The fixed camera north of Brisbane is at the weigh-bridge at Burpengary north-bound.
I haven't spotted the one on the M1 at Tarragindi yet or the one at the Story Bridge.
Don't speed through there and you will be fine :)

i spoted the story bridge it's really visable and its on the right inbound side on the strip where you see few green bushes just before the bridge:)

This sounds strange but I like fixed speed cameras.

If they are placed in areas where people shouldn't be speeding and they are clearly visible so that people are deterred from speeding what is the issue?

For example place one at the end of the Western Freeway at Toowong before people go through the roundabout or in a small town on the Pacific highway etc to force people to slow down where it is necessary.

This though should be coupled with the speed not being unreasonably targeted on the M1 with traffic allowed to flow at reasonable speed.

In the UK for instance the speed limit is 110 km/h on motorways yet the average speed would be closer to 125 km/h. Speed cameras aren't fitted except for at the end of the motorway to ensure that people slow down.

I am not for all this stealth crap with under cover cars etc and hiding speed camera vans as that is clearly revenue raising and not providing a visual deterrent to drivers.

Oh well thats my 2cs worth. Flame away!

i like your thinking now rob...you should be the next police comissioner, you would get the votes of all the car enthusiast community

i don't know if i want to ask, but i know i wouldn't get the job...1 to many speeding tickets and a few other runnings with the boys in blue

Yes well i agree!

But if we keep an updated sticky of the locations of these cameras it would be doing the community a service buy notifing drivers (ie: us) of where the dangerous "BLACK SPOTS" are.

And that would be a Good thing ..... right?

Yes i'm still alive!

yes we'll keep u updated troy!!!!!

lucky since i got my 1 point for a year i drive "RESPONSIBLY" so hopfully i wont get photos in the mail lol:)

Latest rumour I heard over the holidays is that there have been about 50 fixed cameras installed through out the state, and that is has been kept very quiet and the public have not been informed. I'm sure that it was all pure coincidence that they did this just before the Xmas holidays.

rob where did you hear that from!!!

I need to know cos if it's true then we're in trouble and i'm not saying that we are speeding or anything but you know sometimes you forgot to look on your speedo and it can be too late before you get the photo in the mail.

so please let us know if you know any updates on that:)

Just rumour, don't know how reliable the source is though.
It annoys me though cause I reckon there are far more important things you should be concentrating on when driving in traffic that can have a much greater affect on your safety and the safety of your passengers than worrying about having to keep an eye on the speedo all the time.

But the statisticians are all smarter than us, the number can't be wrong after all

I went through the Burpengary site today, that site is going to cause an accident soon as everyone jumps on their brakes as soon as the realise where they are.
I wonder how long it will take before there is a horror crash caused by it.

Unfortunately that will encourage the Gov to "hide" them to avoid such problems for the general driving public.

if there are lots around rob it wont be long (i.e next map update) before the GPS units have the locations on them

looks like i have to dig for my radar detector that is on the bottom of some boxes that i used to move in 2 years ago lol.

and yes these things will cause accidents, sooner or later!!!

and innoscent ppl will suffer because police wants to have higher revenue.

they should start booking people for drivin 80 on highways and blocking fast lanes instead.

I'm sure that has big input with the ammount of accidents as ppl get pissed of and then they try to overtake and end up in a tree or opposite lane under some truck:(
