hey guys,

just wondering...

im guessing its probably going to be cheaper for me to source parts for this rather than take it somehwere and have them source parts/do all the work, so, im just wondering what im going to need...

-pistons
-rods
-metal head gasket
-ARP head stud kit
-ARP main stud kit
-ARP rod bolts

what things need to be done to the block - balancing/honing etc etc

what else?

cheers guys

Dan

boring and honing like u said

u could torque plate bore and hone if u wanted

also depending on the condition of everything

u will probably need to deck the block / head if its not 100% flat

hmmmmm... head work??

head gasket / o-ring block?
port the head?
valves?
springs / retainers ??

crank work (polish journals? nitrate? knife edge??)

the options are endless mate!!

i know darren from AFAS has built some forged 4g93's i believe
(when it was EVOSPORT)

talk to him mate

i also believe its hard to get off the shelf parts for these motors

you first of alll your going the wrong about it. go a 4g63 start with a good foundation

Yeah it is a good foundation...if you want the 2LT.

He wants to keep the 4g93 in his car. :)

indeed :p

ill give darren a buzz in the new year and get planning......

Dave....?? (OFFON4) ---> care to share?? :p

I think you should get me a job where you work!

Cos that is gona cost you way more than an EVO 4g63
and it might yeild you 200kws at the wheels if your lucky.

JETGSR

Stock EVO with a bit of boost will get yuh about 170kws

I just did it for $5000

in QLD pretty easy.

includes $1000 worth of goodies for the motor too

JETGSR

I will admit though I am still ironing out a few buggs nothing too major

Was it fully engineered and certified?

Did you upgrade your brakes?

Was there bracing added to your crossmember like there should have been?

etc etc etc.

Bracing added to the crossmember? Why wouldn't you just unbolt the crossmember from the frontcut and bolt it onto the GSR, easy.

Provided the front cut hasn't been in an accident or damaged during transport that is :)

Sorry GSRSOL i just saw this section

One thing i would suggest is forget the steel head gasket but the rest is fine. Pistons, rods, ARP head stud kit etc

It depends what u want the car for at the end of the day

just a bulletproof and reliable every day streeter......... with some strip/circuit potential also......

just dont want to have to be worrying about how hard i drive the bastard in the fear of bending a rod :?

I can have a chat or you can contact my mate/mechanic to disucss options who is building my biatch and has himself a 4G93 running 10z 8)

i wouldnt mind coming out that way to check out your car anyways dave..... whens good for you mate?
