Yeah well that is meant to be the whole point of this thread, the first post asks simply this. I am not saying it will be a good idea, will work better or worse than the stock setup, I'm just showing that I reckon it will work.
 
I would imagine that setup would cause higher fuel temperatures particularly at idle and cruise because of less flow of fresh fuel over the injectors.
 
Thats why i posed the question in the first place. I had seen many examples of the FPR before the rail and also many with it after. I was interested as to why and now am much the wiser..

You are? Bloody hell, I'll have to go over the entire thread again cause I must have missed something :).

Richard's diagram with the fpr before the rail is basically how the returnless fuel systems I have seen are done these days.

Yeah almost, todays modern cars have a non vacuum adjustable reg in the tank with the pump, it just uses a spring and the maps in the computer are more complex to deal with the fueling.
