Front Wheel Bearings

Gday,
I need to replace the front wheel bearings on the Galant GSR... Same as VR4?
Is this done at home??
Where is the best place to go for the new bearing kit??

Someone must have changed their bearings in the past....

Can get the bearing kit from any parts store, will order it in for you.

As for the home jobs, only attempt it if you have a press, puller, proper tools, grease and some experience.

Can they be punched out on a bench?
Surely theyre not that tight are they?

Yeah, you can knock out the bearings but before that you have to press the hub apart/split it.

Can be done at home, without a press, but it is a bitch. A press makes it much easier (& safer!). Bearing kits available from any parts store (Bursons, Repco, etc) Be careful of ball joints etc when removing hub assembly

same as galant vr4 & gsr, Lancer gsr, Evo 1-3 all same wheel bearing part number for the bearing is MB303865 you will also need the 2 different seals per bearing (per side)
Frt hub oil seal MB573309 & outer oil seal MB303875

CBC list them as a kit ie bearing and both seals at 173.98 per side or for L&R kits 250.77 part number for CBC kit is MC112A Kit.

Ive just read another post ona forum and they picked a kit up for $57 so just trying to find a generic part number as it will be definately cheaper than stating its for a car frt wheel bearing. Fug knows why but thats just the way it works.

Anyone got any other part numbers for generic replacement bearings??

I had one of mine replaced on my VR4 about 4 months ago. I had some other work done as well but I was quoted around $280 inc parts for just the bearing but you could probably get it done cheaper, that is if you dont end up doing it yourself.

2tonne bearing press check, just after prices and part numbers as I will be doing it myself.

OR, go to a wrecker and find a car with OK bearings in it, quick swap and your done....

Apparently my rotor and pad wear could be due to wheel bearings. These are only 6 months and 4 track days old. So I want to get the kit and get them chucked on.
