Someone smashed the rear quarter window on my Buick Electra last night :twisted: :evil: :twisted:


I had literally put my head on my pillow just after 2am this morning when I heard a smash out the back of my building- I ran downstairs and looked out my window and sure enough- it was my car they had smashed!

I ran out with my tee-ball bat and dog, saw the damage, then I did a couple of laps of the block and saw nothing and no one. Called the cops- 6 cars all turned up at once, it was like the cavalry lol. They did some laps- found nothing and said "tough luck mate, nice car though" and left.

I thought about staking out the car and waiting for the bastards to come back, but I thought I was going to do something i'd regret if I caught them- involving a hammer and some pliers.


I suppose i'm lucky I heard them, and that I still have a car. there was nothing in the car that was worth to anyone, so i'm guessing they were setting it up to come back later and steal. There's no damage to the actual window frame (thank god) i'm just up for a custom piece of glass to replace the one they smashed. Its curved and factory tinted too- its going to cost HEAPS.

Its a rude wake-up call and a nice welcome to owning my first V8 (ever) in Australia.

Sorry to hear that Dre. I keep a small crow bar next to the bed now ever since my Lancer had its passanger window punched in and shit stolen from it, I have also shifted the bed so i can now easily see out the window if i hear any noises. Some people have no respect for others things and they are too fucking lazy, cracked out or fucked in the head to have the decency to work for thier own stuff.

i wouldn't know how you guys would feel.. i live on a 5 acre block of land with a MASSIVE driveway (baz knows all about it) so i don't think anyone would bother coming in to have a peak at my car..

Its was out the back, but when you have 3 cars and only one car space, it kind of makes things a little hard.

Finding a piece of glass is going to be impossible. Ive already asked around. There's not one in Australia. This is going to suck.

i know it sound dumb but my mate got a guy to come repair his rear window on his buick and was good price too i know it not original but it still looks the same in the end?

badluck though dude, I find it odd that they just smashed one window. Keep an eye out as your theory of them coming back to steal it sounds pretty accurate.

Thats maybe how you do it in canberra, but we do things a little differently in NZ.

A flat piece of glass is no problem. This is curved. I'll ring around some more places tomorrow- I rang 3 today, and they didnt want to know about it!!!

Try Glenn at Classic car connection. he more than likely won't have one himself, but will know who to ask and where to look, or even import one for you.

Try Pilkington or DMS glass, Pilks can definately do curved laminated glass, DMS can probably source it for half the price, G. James glass in sydney can do curved toughened glass. Matching the tint might be the hard part. I'll ask around the industry to find out who does custom classic car stuff and let you know if I find anything helpful.

Clutz, possible try Curved and Bent Glass on 07 3807 8411. They apparently have a branch in Sydney. If they can't do it,they may know someone who can. I think the hard part will be that you don't have a pane you can give them to copy.

Do you know if a flat pane ofglass will fit? (I've just been assuming that it was curved).
