I generally use BP or Vortex. I've found Shell average. Since talking to a mechanic friend of mine, he blames it on the amount of additives they use in the blend. I will be trying Mobil soon, it sounds as though some are having some good results with it.

Only options here in NZ for 98 are BP Ultimate and Mobile Synergy 8000. I tend to go to BP mainly because mobil are now Prepay all of the time. I usually fill up instead of getting a set amount and they ask to hold my wallet whilst I do so.
If they don't trust me not to pinch a tank of gas with my plates in full display of a video camera i'll be dammed if i'm trusting their snot nosed counter staff with my wallet!!
We have also just recently had Gull introduce their Force 10 (Which is 98 with 10% ethanol) but its only availabe up in Auckland. Would consider switching to that if it was local, but fuck it - i'll just inject more Methanol when its set up 8)

Run the GSR rally car and the Liberty GT on BP ultimate.
I do have a BP card though!
The Lib is 98ron only stock for the 2.0T the later 2.5T's run 95, put anything less in and it dies in the arse.
