Call me stupid or whatever, but could a shit tune make your turbo spool up slower??

the reason why i'm asking, is that my turbo is smaller on the exhaust side than jons, but I only get FULL boost (1.6bar) at 4700rpm, and jon makes full boost somewhere around there too?

when i went into amberley they said "but its a big turbo" and i said yes, but its only .63A/R on the exhaust side!

I was hoping to be making full boost by 4000rpm.

whats the deal?
 
i say stop complaining, at least your car is running on 4cyls, lol, i think it could possibly have something to do with it, there could be other things as well, like loose bolts on the turbo,
 
I dont think its goin to be running on 4cyl for long with the way I drive the thing + 1.6bar + stock internals.

I might sound like a bitch but I dont think I was complaining, it was a question :p

Tune would make your car do that..

My car doesnt make fullboost tile around 5500rpm dre.. :)

Your car in theory should be making very strong boost at like 4500rpm with the .62 housing..

I think you need to take it to another tuner and let them play around with ur timing (ie advance/retard it) and also ge tthem to clean up ur fuel map as 1.6 bar you should easily make over the 220awkw no problems at all.

shit, I thought it was 4500 jon, yes, i think i need glasses :shock:

but still, I thought I would be making full boost alot earlier, i.e: 4-4.5k rpm.

friday the 27th or april, Errol @ efi dynamics is gunna give it a go, unless anyone else can reccomend anyone better???

he tuned sokki's car to 170kw's at the wheels.. with the afc..
he also tuned sroy's vr4.. which ran 12.7 (tc05/ tdo6 hybrid) with a haltec or microtech..

he should make a big improvement... and then go back to amberley and show them.. shove it in their face.. show them how shit they are..
then post a topic ALL OVER THE NET!!!.. every forum u can think of..

as for gearbox dre... whatcha gonna do?

as for the tuning thing.. yes tune would affect it...
timing related...
you have cam gears right? that should help also..

Oh yes, i'll be going back to amberley for sure to show them where they missed 40 kw!

Cam gears are OBX adjustables.

g/box, well I'm not 200% sure it is the syncros, is there any way to find out for sure without taking the box out?? Shifting is always really good, until you go for a high rpm quick shift, in any gear, and its shit!

Perhaps it IS that slave cyl rod thing you were telling me about baz?

Heres a brief history ive got with my reciepts:

19/11/02


Remove and replace gearbox, replace clutch fork, remove clutch to check condition, replace clutch and gearbox

05/04/04 (2 months before i bought it)


Remove and replace gearbox and all associated components, to diagnose clutch problem. Clutch found to be broken, clutch replaced.

clutch- uprated ceramic $465.30

now- the clutch that he said was in there is a 2600lbs adelaide clutch services ceramic clutch.

when I bought the car, it'd crunch a little in second until it was warmed up, I replaced the g/box fluid and the problem went away........

what do you think- replace the clutch and test? then if its still the same then replace box?

or

replace the box, keep the clutch and test. if its clutch, replace it.

??????

any suggestions?

I want to be able to shift it like all the other mitsi's ive owned- real fassst.

you can adjust your clutch

also, your slave cylinder rod..
do some readon on taboospeedshop.com (i think thats it)
it will explain to you how it works

and maybe even do a test on your setup with some washers or something

trial and error man.. only way to find out
 
I havent replaced the rear diff oil yet, but I do know its a mechanical LSD unit, looking back on the ad from where I bought it from it says its got a front and centre viscous diff?

I didnt notice that before, and I dont think I used LSD fluid (i cant even remember what fluid it was) :oops:

it says in the reciept that they used LSD fluid when they replaced the gearbox.

what way can I tell if ive got front LSD without taking it to bits??

Easiest way to tell about BOTH LSD's...

Jack the car up,

Spin a wheel. If the opposite one spins the SAME way... LSD.

If it spins in the opposite direction... openwheeler :D
 
i thought that was only for rear?

ive never had a mitsi with LSD before, and after all this time I only thought I had rear LSD.

sheesh, do you any of you fullas have LSD's?

viscous lsd's or even any LSD in the front of E39a's is rare isnt it??

no front lsd on mine... haven't tried the rear yet though, but i'm sure there's no lsd there either
