hey guys anyone know much about this stuff? good bad ugly? has all you really need for street application an the odd track day the price is also very inviting like $1300 aint bad for they can do ...

all i can say is you get what you pay for,

i have heard they are similar to d2s which i have driven on and
i was not too impressed, to stiff in the spring, minimal shock control.
not up to too much track work.

my2c

spend the extra and at least get some teins as a minimum

yeah just lookin for something to improve upon stock just heard they aint bad i dont plan on breakin lap records my stockies are just old and sad

I've got D2 in my GSR, they are very stiff. You feel every bump in the road! I put em in for the same reason you are considering them, I figured for the price they are a good deal compared to just putting in shocks and springs but given the chance again I might of been better of with a good set of shocks and springs. One very good thing about them is they allow you to change the height of the car quite easily.

from what ive heard and from wat my friends have experienced theyre not really worth 1300. they have minimal shock control and once tracked, they tend to bend. ive actually been at the shop when customers were returniing them cause of shock distortion which causes the oil to leak.

for what you pay, there are way better once you can get.

racing logic race spec series would probably be more around your ball park range. offers alot of what u would get in a good coilover such as height adjustable but adjusted through where you bolt the hub on so it doesnt affect the spring travel (setup like buddy club), 42 way damper and rebound adjustability, 52mm monotube, camber adjustable. thats all i can think of so far. lol
hopefully buddy club will release their suspension range for the evo 1-3/gsr. ive heard nothing but good results from them, even bilstein praises them quiet highly.

Check out: Its on sale.

I would go hotbits over D2/G4/K-Sport and those GAB ones.

Even though theyre labelled as GAB, they look very similar to the G4/D2 ones anyway.

Hotbits or the local Teins.

Otherwise its 2k and up for some Ohlins/Toda/ or Aragosta

Just on the subject of K-Sport and the manufacturing plant that rumors have it they are made in the same factory as other same price style and functioned Coil overs as some other brands.

Only difference being that they are anodized a different color and have same silver stickers but with different brands on them check out what I found on K-Sports site
http://www.k-sportracing.com/customer%20service/agreement.htm said:
Under the heading COOPERATION AGREEMENT
K-SPORT is a Taiwan coil over kits and brake kits specialist, we also offer ODM services for some famous brands in Europe, USA, and JAPAN for a long time. I agree all terms stipulated as follows:

I agree not to proclaim K-SPORT and other brands come from the same manufacturer in the public places, like magazines, forums, newspaper, or website etc....

I agree not to set the MSRP (Manufacturer's suggested retail price) less than US$1,000 on all coilover kits and US$1,600 on all brake kits in the public places like magazines, forums, or websites etc in order to stabilize the marketing prices.

I agree to sell K-SPORT products to my own territory only; selling to other countries is prohibited.
I agree that mutual business relationship will be terminated and eligibility of dealership/distributorship will be turned down unconditionally and completely for violation of all terms stipulated in this application.

This is my personal nightmare story about K-Sport

The only reason I bought coilovers from Ksport was they were the only company that listed an adjustable coil overs for the CD5W Libero AWD.

Seeing that there wasn't allot of choice for my particular model I checked them out and they seemed a good enough quality product so went ahead and ordered them.

In Detail here are the facts from my dealings with them
1:I was supplied the incorrect shock length for the rears Frt's were no issue)
2: *Incorrect spring height (original springs were way to short)
3: Adjustable saddle fixing bolts (were to short by 60mm)
*The springs supplied were so low even after removing the bump stops they lowered the wagon way too much (read like a lowrider with no air in his airbag system) + the shocks would still not reach even with these crazy short springs in. ie 50mm to short of attaching the bottom of the shocks to the diff.

After many phone calls to NSW (maybe Aust) distributor.

I was told they are the right ones and to fit them even though I had been able to ascertain that they were incorrect parts supplied for my Model  either they screwed up in the packing dept or I was sent the compleately wrong package for the model I had ordered them for :(

After having very little luck with communicating with the distributor (read had no idea) I bit the bullet and emailed their head office in Taiwan a week later I still hadn't received a reply so.

I bit the bullet again and phoned them directly told of my situation and parts incorrectly supplied they told me to please deal with or distributor about the issue

I let them know about the situation and that they still palmed me back to the distributor.
The distributor then offered to get the Ksport engineering dept to send me some PFD's in which i was asked to supply photo's along with technical spec's of the differences. This was done that night to scale and emailed to distributor and CC'd to head office Taiwan.

After around 2 months and after many messages left on the distributors answering machine. I finally got them to answer their phone and was delt with the same story (read go bang your head on a wall again) the new parts haven't arrived.

The next week I had a phone call your package of the new parts have arrived, feeling a huge weight off my shoulder and I could eventually fit up the rears. (frt's there was never an issue)

Drive over to the North Shore again to get given a box with the new correct length bolts for the application and two new springs longer than the supplied ones that were way to short.
WTF where are the correct length shocks.....The answer was "just fit them up they are the right ones and see how you go".

Get home and fitted the adjustable height collars with the new bolts and put in the original too short springs just to double check (yes way to short, read ridiculously too low)
Fitted the new still lowered springs but longer than first supplied ones and they fitted.

Go to fit up the shocks still way to short to even reach diff mounts. (bangs head on wall again) :x

Happy with the lowered height of the newly supplied springs (read dropped car by around 70mm with lower spring saddles almost at the top of height adjustment)

Seeing as I wanted to get these new coil overs in and get at least one testing day with them at a minimum on the track before EvoNats this was 3 days before mind you :x: managed to get oem shocks in there (mind you they were compressed 70mm).

After ringing the distributor again the next day and telling him the shocks were way to short and wouldn't reach, I was told to bring the car in so they can see for them selves, what is the issue! (read they still assume that its the correct size and that its not their incorrect shock length supplied issue)

Again off to the North Shore again and after they can see physically them selves that the shocks are to short.

I was then told to fill out this form they would supply me Via email.
"the shock length that you order, you will get..... and that will be the end of the story as far as we are concerned WTF :x:
I received the form and its a "customer custom supply order form".

So Im at home trying to work out what would be the correct length of shock to order and I'm thinking,
so how long is the shock I need?
and what is the stroke of the shock?
I'm not going to order a shock without not knowing what the stroke is and being I'm very mechanically minded I'm in no way a suspension technician to be able to with 100% order away a set of custom shocks that suit my specific requirement and that if its incorrect I don't have a leg to stand on.

I ring again and ask if they can supply me with the stroke of the shock.
I get told "I don't know! you will have to ask for that info from Ksport HQ in Taiwan.

I'm still waiting for the reply with some specifications of the shock stroke to work out what to order its now 6months later.

My advise is never buy a Ksport product ever
their service is shiite,
their communication is shiite,
their product knowledge is shiite (unless product is for a commonwhore or falcoon) they wont know a thing about it.
and their after sales service is so slow
I'm sure I'll be retired still harping on about how I bought these @#$%en cheap coil overs from this company and was dicked around bigtime just trying to get the correct supplied product and is the reason why my hair has gone Grey and I'm still a nervous wreak over ever having dealings with this company full stop.

Mods if this is off topic I would kindly cut and paste it into a new topic for venting of steam just PM me.

But I would think its still relevant to other forum user's just in case some are looking at this brand to have an understanding of what this company is like to deal with.

tein or hotbits it is been lookin closely at these next question anyone got the hook up to get them reasonable prices or shall i just give fulcrum a call an get the tein's?
