hi guys

i own a cordia with a vr4 engine, just recently i have fitted a galant computer and am having a few difficulties starting the engine.

The engine is cranking over, there is power at the ecu, tps, afm and coils, fuel pump.

The positives at the coils have power but the computer dosnt seem to be sending any signal to the power transistors so there is no spark. i have aslo heard the fuel pump wont work antil there is a signal running to the transistors. is this true?

any help would be very much apreciated

regards Koray

You sure you put the spark plug leads onto both coils in the correct order? (dont laugh, had someone ring me up over the phone after he spent several hours at his mechanics trying to diagnose a problem until I asked that simple question). Could also be a crap CAS. Check both things first as they would be the easiest to eliminate.

Had very similar issues and it was CAS wasnt expensive to swap out the electrical internal part with brand new Generic one either.

ill go over all the wiring again tomorrow and let you guys know how i went.

could a crap CAS stop my fuel pump from working.

No , but it will stop normally 4 first then or 1 cylinder as well from carrying a spark ;)

Had the same problem endded up giving up got it to start a couple of times i was doing the opset making the loom stock instead of with the wolf wiring but it was mashed up so much oh well.
easest way would be to change the loom.
good luck with it

a crappy crack angle sensor will cause no injector pulse or flow and no spark

so basically a no start situation
there is ways too test CAS other then a scan tool i cant remember but ive got it in a folder in my toolbox at work

Does the fuel pump prime with power up?

If no, you may require to check the MPI (relay under the glove box).

A good way to confirm spark is by leaving the leads on a plug but not screwed into the cylinder. Also pull the CAS and with the power on, rotate the CAS by hand, this will confirm spark. (I believe it should work with the stock ECU as I usually use this method with aftermaket ECU's...)

Lol, baz you beat me to it, yeah I hope you got the MPI relay with the computer trq-str?

I've been there and done that.
Spent a whole day, swapping CAS, coils, power transistor, a stack of other things, you name it, eventually brisvr4 came to save the day, and it was just that the leads weren't plugged in the right order on the coils. The coil packs themelves had the numbers marked on it, and I went according to that, but yeah, it was wrong!

yes by rotating the CAS by hand you should get both spark and injector pulse a good tool to have is a spark tester and noid lites,

ive done the old switch around of the leads sounded like a lawn mower, i didnt realise the coils had numbers inprinted on the top aswell until i looked at the leads last, i think i went by the firing order but i was wrong
