hi, just hoping for some help i got a awd gearbox here was removed from a galant vr4 the only numbers i can find on it are c00 ed6754 written at the top of the case its meant to be switchable just want to look into at a bit further.
thanks in advance.

the plunger is on the front and yeah def c00 ? cant figure it out my other one has the plunger on the end?
i will upload some pics as soon as batteries charge

Thats weird! Haven't seen that plunger before. I meant on the end of the case like you second pic.
Can you take a close up shot of the top of the bellhousing with the number on it? and of the inside of the bellhousing showing the output shaft etc?

Actually by the look of the shift lever it isn't a VR4 box...

the front
wont let me upload id pics
but they are displayed
c00 or coo on top
and ED6754 bottom line

happy for you to have alook , ive done a couple of comparisons to the factory 4g61 gsr box .
splines the same
starter location is the same
distance on input shafts are the same
snadwich plates line up on both gearboxes?

im new to this gearbox side of things but from what i was told would require
new sanwichplate from the engine that the gearbox came from also vr4 flywheel and clutch but from the looks all the standard gsr gear lines up?

From what I know the Gsr gear should work ok, I have a VR4 flywheel at home if you need one. It will need to be resurfaced though.
The plunger is the issue for me. It would be good to see exactly what it activates?

i was wanting to get a fidanza vr4 flywheel but unsure atm i placed the cbgsr 200mm pressure plate inside the new box and i think it would struggle to take the extra 25mm

ok so ive flipped the box over and found more numbers and theres md720131 on the bottom of the bell housing which i beleive is vr4 cp51? but still doesnt explain the other numbers?

You'd think the plunger would lock the centre diff for when you release the prop
to the rear at the transfer case..Yeah pics would show more secrets inside.
Cheers !

switchable gearbox

here, these might help.i found this info when i was researching my switchable gearbox. the schematics are a bit tiny though, but you can see the extra shifter fork for the center diff off the plunger

to me that looks like a vr4 early cordia awd box or a magna style one that came with the 4g63 dash motors, they had a few very odd things on them and i remember seeing that type of setup on the front of it. i would be worried about issues with flywheel sizes and stuff with that one.

The dash came with a box similar have one here its not switchable but it has a vacume solinoid on it its for the overdrive system. i have put the box in and been for a spin it all seems to be working fine so will see how i go i suppose. And yeah i used all the original clutch set up from my 61na
