Hey guys,
I've got a 94 gsr and i'm putting an EVO 3 engine in, so far it's in, but the front left drive shaft is different where it bolts to the motor.
I've been having major troubles finding an evo 3 shaft but i found one in sydney and when i got it and had a look at it it's pretty much the same as the GSR one, the mount is in the same spot and it doesn't have ABS teeth.. Great.. is this evan an evo 3 shaft?
Does anyone know if a VR4 one will fit or of anyone who can modify the one i have so it will fit...
Anyone?
I can't be only one with this problem
Please someone help

i just brought a half shaft off a vr4 and put the original gsr cv onto that, works fine and it was heaps cheaper:thumbsup: not 100% sure if it bolts to the evo motor tho mine was the evo 0 vr4

from what I remember, the GSR and an evo shaft are the same in terms of shaft and cv joints. the difference is the mount that goes to the block near the ac compressor. I believe the rs evo didnt have abs so may not have had the teeth on the cv ....even so the shaft should fit and work but your abs wont work on that wheel. BUT If you have the right block mount why not have that swaped onto your GSR shaft then you should be ok for abs.

check to see if the mount on the shaft you bought fits the block......if itdoes the either swap it onto your gsr shaft or take the end cv from the gsr shaft and put it on the shaft you bought:thumbsup:

No, the mount seems to be the only problem with the shaft. It doesn't have anywhere to bolt to on the 4g63 block.

Guys the 1.8 litre and the 2 litre shafts are different. He needs a shaft from a 2 litre so it will bolt to the block. He will also need the aircon compressor X-brace mount as well, or use 8mm worth of washers as a spacer instead of the X-brace. Im after one of these braces for a mates car as well at the moment.

Thanks for the pic heaps of help the shaft i got from sydney for $190 is different to that one it must be off a gsr or something and not an evo 3 like he said.
So i still need an evo 3 shaft anyone?

the supposed evo 3 shaft I bought and the one I took out of my gsr look exactly the same. The bolt pattern for the mount is different to the one in the pic. The bolt holes are above and below each other vertically, not kinda horizontal like the pic. So basically looks like I need a shaft lfrom the pic. What's the exact model number and stuff to quote so I can start lookin for one?

Thanks everyone for the help so far too.

I can't find a shaft anywhere i've called so many places
does anyone know of any places that could fabricate a bracket to make the gsr one fit? Has anyone done this before? or heard of it working for more than a week?

have you called cvap? dont email him call his mobile

You could always bring in a few brackets from NZ and mate them to GSR driveshafts :w00t: :p Thats what I may end up doing anyday now as we're after one for a 4G63 conversion within the fortnight.
