This might be a stupid question, but can someone show me which bolt if for which on the GSR Gearbox oil drain plug and where to fill it up from? and does the transfer case use the same drain plug and filling location or are they seperate.

i have look on the car and the locations i thought they were arent the correct ones?

here are some pics can someone help me label them.

thanks

green -> transfer case drain
red -> gearbox drain
yellow -> gearbox filler

the transfer case's oil is seperate from the gearboxes.

the filler plug for the transfer case is on the front on it, above level with the turbo return line to the sump.

when you fill them, you fill the box and transfer case through the filler till its level with the filler hole, i.e. oil start pissing out.

ok thanks guys i got it done, had to make a funnel to fill the gearbox and transfer case. i'll take some pics of it and of the rear diff to make sure im looking at the right bolts.

thanks again

Best way to do this at home I found, although a little slow for the gearbox as it takes a bit, is to go to the chemist and get the biggest syringe they have ( should only be about $2 ) and use this to transfer the fluid in.

I use one of them 1 litre plastic transmission fluid bottles you can buy from any Repco, Autopro etc with a nozzle on the top, it also comes with a clear hose to put onto it. You just put the hoze on the nozzle and feed the hose into the gearbox hole and squeeze :D The 1 litre bottles are even better when they have a clear side wall with notches and numbers indicating fluid level so you know how much you put in :wink:
