Hi guys i am new to this site, I am looking for some help.

I have recently bought myself a 93 gsr 1.8t and im trying to get it running mint.

1st problem is when i boost it sputters and backfires alot.. its only running 8-10 psi

2nd problem is when i cold start the car it starts first pop, when the engines warm it slow cranks for some reason maybe a voltage drop since the batteries relocated..

Any ideas??? Thanks

Try simple stuff, service work, fuel filter, injector clean, plugs and leads etc

faling those BOOST LEAK! we've had numerous cars come through with bucking etc under load and almost always it's bad plug gap (to wide) or boost leak

Thanks guys! going to give it a full service this week, what plugs do you recommend? i am looking at putting ngk bkr6e's in with 0.8mm gap

Get someone to hold a multi meter on the battery when you try to crank it, let us know what volts it drops to

you'll want and evo ecu evo afm and probably yht evo turbo take full advantage of those injectors. bare minimum is ecu and afm to support them

Recommended plug gap for running the maximum boost a TD04 13G can manage? I put new plugs in recently, gapped to .8 if i remember correctly, which I'm guessing is too wide, seems to shudder/backfire a bit on more than 16psi

Got it to run 20psi stable-ish (only got to test to 5k in second because speed limit, will check it on the freeway tomorrow) with a 0.6mil gap. Any more boost and it violently lurches forward at a certain rpm, increasing the boost brings the lurch point down in revs (26psi was about 3500rpm)

26psi....yes it is a forged engine. But arent you now running a stock turbo? if yes it will be pumping a lot of heat

how big is the intercooler?....evo size?

I should probably create a new thread, don't want to hijack this poor guys..
Some info for you guys though:
Forged engine, 8:1 comp ratio, 390cc injectors, GSR AFM, GSR computer, TD04-13G turbo, using a bleed valve because the solenoid was stuffed when I got it, and an Evo sized front mount.
I thought it was the engine leaning out so I got pretty worried it caused some damage when it happened, but I took it on a cruise this arvo and it ran fine on 20 pounds :)

How can the ECU even sense the boost pressure anyway?? afaik there are no boost pressure sensors
