Has anyone come across this eprom chip that i was trying to track down once. It fits in a ECU empty i.c slot (or needs to be soldered on) to give u 20KW+ costed roughly $300-400. It was going around. Similiar to a powerchip. Anyone prefer chip or just aftermarket ecu such as darren from AFAS recommended > Wolf 3D?

I suppose it's possible, but you'd probably get 20kw out of an exhaust. Really, if you're going to screw with your management like that get DSMlink or go full aftermarket.

ive got an exhaust system just no res, for a louder note, and sports muff. hiflow cat but soon upgrade to 3". with the chip im after one or maybe just as u say go aftermarket. ive got to decide.

i also recall that for this chip to give full efficiency u had to have the following mods. The tdo4-13g or tdo5-16g, typical front mount, decent 2.5-3inch mandrel exhaust piping, s-afc s-itc to give full potential.

i havent had any experience with chips, i run a Wolf 3D on my VR4.
I chose it over a chip do to the flexibility of it.
It can be tuned to suit any modifications.

what he said ^

i wouldnt bother with a chip at all

300 - 400 bucks for a chip is nearly a quarter of what a PnP ECU from either Wolf or Haltech would cost you.

same goes for SAFC, VAFC and itc......... by the time you get all of those, you could probably have got an fuly programmable ECU anyways.

if youre planning on modding the car any further, then all a chip is, is a waste of CAAAAEEEEEEEESH :p

correct me if i'm wrong, but don't S-AFC's lose there settings if you get a flat battery and stuff? that would give me the shits i reckon!

i don't think so.. i had a flat battery a few weeks ago.. lost all my head unit settings!!!!  but all my settings on my vafc safc and itc were still there.. must be a back up battery in them i guess?

Ummm, you do know that a Vafc is an safc for vtec don't you?

Ive got a Mines eeprom chip in my car.

12.6 @ 106mph on 16psi with a stuffed motor.. cant wait to get the motor in and run low 12s.. not bad for a chip..

If the chip is set up properly then it will work well.

And yes, they have a permanent backup... but it's not a battery, it's flash memory. When you reset them, they reflash.
