I have a VDO rally computer that I intend on putting in my GSR to use for targa recce to measure stage distances, this thing hooks up to the speedo wire (from which I can gather is the yellow/white wire in the ecu?) but to calibrate the speed pulse I need the "k"value of the speedo....apparently every vehicle speedo has a K value and is usually indicated by a label or stamp on the back of the cluster.

Would anyone know what this value might be for a GSR, or have a cluster laying around that they could check for a marking?

Cheers guys :)

from what I remember of using the rally computers the easiest way to calibrate the units was to find the pulse wire and then drive over a measured distance of known accuracy. count the pulses that the wire outputs and then add that info to the rally computer.

does that help?

Cheers Brian

The coralba unit in my tme works like you suggest but the one I want to put in the GSR is a VDO and it uses speed pulse for distance but has no calibration input option apart from entering the K value of the speedo then dividing that value by 6 and entering that figure into the unit.

I have never heard of this value before but google says that every speedo has one, it's just finding it that seems to be the problem!

I don't really want to have to resort to pulling out my cluster to find a number that may not be present, was hoping someone may have one lying around they could check, or know if there is in fact a stamping on there.

HI, after reading this post I was curious as to this K thing. Here is a post on another site that may help or not LOL.
how K is determined

Sorry it doesn't give you the number your after though.

Cheers

A massive thanks to Nick (2much) for supplying me with the following picture, for those that are interested here is the K value for a GSR speedo :D

I just checked my evo one. Exactly the same.

Though the pic you posted (2much's cluster) above seems to be the 180km/h jspec gsr/evo, not the 240km/h.

Its the same as the EVO 1 cluster i have and the same as the GLXi cluster
