WHo has done it?

What do I need?

What discs did you run?

Did you manage to not have to run spacers?

If so what offset wheel are you running?

Would you do it again or would you take a different path?

Thanks

To answer part of your question most find it such a pain in the (*) with custom brackets finding wheels with offset to suit and running spacers just aint worth it, yes it may be the cheaper option but it isnt a bolt on job and spacers are required + rims
Save up some extra cash and get the Alcon or AP kit made to suite CD/CE9A ect.

You should of snapped up Dougmo's big brake kit they were a bargain at the time and came with 2 different set ups to suite 15" wheels and the larger disk's for 17's

Coulda Shoulda

Tried to snap it up but he wasn't willing to post.

I can't find the Alcon kit, can you please point me in the right direction.

you wont find it on the net either as it isn't listed on web sites any more, but who ever stocks or orders Alcon's can get them Same with the AP's I looked into them both and the AP's won hands down

The alcons can be landed for just on $2800 AUD at the moment.

I can probably do the 3000GT kit for around $1000.

I want to be able to run the same offset front and rear.

get yourself a set of evo 9 calipers, blank dba's and make some spacers
cheapest option!
not cheapest option - AP's WR/vsport wvvw.vsport.com.au 4k garanteed to fit & work

Pretty good write up here: http://msport.co.nz/viewtopic.php?t=7478

Instead of running spacers you could have some 5 stud FTO wheel bearings and flange pressed into your rear hubs and run FTO front hubs (Or do the same as the rears, press some FTO wheel bearings/flanges in) and then run wheels of an Evo 5 or 6 fitment - they clear Brembos so will clear the GTO calipers.

pretty sweet writeup!

no one seems to want to reveal details on the brackets though

As for the brackets, I understand completely as to why some people keep their cards close to their chest with these. Why should they go to the trouble and expense of having some designed and made, or putting in the hard yards and done it themselves for other people to just go and copy them for cheaper? I'm all for sharing tips and hints etc, but when someone has gone through the painstaking R&D involved in getting something designed and fitted, I think they deserve the luxury of choosing who and who not to share that info with.

Completely agree gsr, then there's another flip side which is just as annoying Put the info all there on a forum on a silver platter and have it ignored because the noob thinks they can reinvent the wheel better.

I have the *Cad draft for AP's Brackets ;) (*I found on the web), but you have to have patients & sneaky to find the results. hint: Right click & properties is your friend

Not looking for a silver platter. I only want to do this once and do it right and if other people have the information and are not willing to share I understand that. On the other hand people will be greatly appreciative of the information provided if it leads you down the correct path.

The AP Racing kit is up to 8 weeks away so it appears I will be taking a different path.

What wheels are people running to ensure that they don't have to run spacers?

I have someone who can make the brackets and fit the calipers and make it all work for $250. Then the cost is incurred for new discs and pads and the wheels.

You have found someone that will do it below for $250  your out of pocket cost,
Q: So when you get them made WILL YOU get the draft plans and host them on the web after getting the brackets made up and paying 250 for them ????????? we will soon see ey?

As stated earlier the 5 stud evo wheels will clear no spacers  or are you after 4x114.3 wheel specs and brands offsets to clear ?

I have been dealing with this company.

http://www.yellowpages.com.au/qld/c...teering-remanufacturing-12993278-listing.html

They have their own custom two piece discs which they can adjust the offset by up to 13mm.

If I can go a standard path ie Brembos I will be more then happy to post up all the details and how I made it work.

Prefer to stick with 4x114.3 as I have just replaced all my bearings front and rear. This comes back to my previous post regarding doing it once and doing right.

You can keep your new bearings if you press in fto/rvr hubs (I did when I pressed mine in).

You may even be able to take your new bearings out and fit them to a later hub that is 5-stud AND has mounts to suit brembo calipers - no custom brackets needed! (though, new wheel bearings for the new front hubs would still be cheaper than having the brackets made surely?)

5-stud makes life ALOT easier, however some of the common/popular 'drift' wheels are available in 4-stud with spokes shaped to clear big calipers.
