Harmonic Balancer replacment

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

anybody have any idea how the crank pulley would destroy it self without harming the crank shaft and or the key??

the one I put back on is spinning perfect by the look of it (no sideways movement)

I dunno about 93T ones but the stock balancer for the 63T has a vulcanised rubber insert that eventually perishes.

I ended up getting my pulley off too, I just made another tool with stronger angle iron. :)

hey mate
theres no rubber in the part that wore away
on the 93t they have 1 BIG bolt that holds the crank pulley to the crank
and a woodruff(thats how you spell it ??) key that makes the crank and pulley turn as one.

The rubber part is further toward the outter edge of the pulley just in from the belts

OK so now i have to swap woodruff keys etc..

what is the best way to remove the cam timing pulley from the crank to slide out the woodruff key swap them and then re assemble?

I don't have any workshop manuals to guide me sadly

ok..pulled pulleys off etc.. got the air gun and blew the crap out(black plastic that got chewed up by the wobbling balancer)

key came free(didnt think that was right but yeah)
put new one in.. noticed it was sitting on an angle... not good
checked other motor.. its straight..
pulled key back out.. took a look from the top keyway is all worn out on 1 side and had started eating into the timing pulley on an angle too

so thats 2 motors.... and i havnt even clocked up 2000km in total on 2 gsr's

anybody have a guaranteed good motor and or a 4g63 to give away? haha

to swap cranks i can only assume i need to pull the whole motor out?

does anyone know where else i can find a harmonic balancer for the 4g93 i talked to travis already but very pricey, will a proton one work ???

i bought mine from a fixtures shop bought 5-6 for a couple of bucks i think i bought 2 of the size that fits the 93 which means i have a spare if anybody wants it i may also have the one that fell out of the 93t here somewhere and also the one that belong in my sohc engine.

@ blackers. get yourself a cam gear tool (a thing that hold the gears in place) and then remove your timing belt take the crank timing pulley off and then replace your keyway and this pully if it hasn't started chewing on the crank other wise your gona need to pull down the motor and replace the crank.

@347dis i think i have a spare ballancer here aswell
