Hey guys,

Anyone ever bought this cheap ebay harmonic balancer pulley ? :

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Evolution-1-2-3-GSR-4G63T-Lightweight-Crank-Pulley-Damper-Harmonic-Balancer-/150848138166?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item231f3febb6

If its poo would anyone recommend something better ?

I recently got one of these but wasn't too cheap

Doesn't look like it would dampen anything being solid billet (not the Ross). Depends how much power you're going to make I guess. i'm getting one of these for my build - this is the cheapest I've found (for the ATi) so far, delivery price isn't too bad either. Has timing gear as part of damper to better transfer crank harmonics to balancer.

Reason for my search is because as i was pulling apart my engine i noticed that the sleve as you may call it on my one is 40% snapped off. Id guess it wouldnt be great for the perfect ballance when in motion putting strain on the belt and shaft bearing.

I noticed this:

Make: MITSUBISHI
Model: ECLIPSE
Engine Type: L4
Liter: 2.0
CID: 122
CC: 1997
Engine Size: 2.0L/122
Beginning Year: 1999
Ending Year: 1999
Engine Family: Mitsubishi 4-cylinder
Engine Designation: 4G63T

Guessing its a no go for my VR4 engine ..?

I know the Ross kit is pricey but check out the warranty etc. basically the thing is indestructible. Mine was looking shoddy when timing belt was done couple of months ago so I just replaced it. Probably overkill. What about just getting a genuine Mitsi replacement?? Don't know price

Think about this: How can a solid piece of alloy help to dampen any harmonic vibrations through the crankshaft? - it doesnt!
An aftermarket engineered pulley designed to eliminate vibrations, fluid based systems or the OEM rubber pulley (within service life and not 20 years old and split) are what you should be using. According to Extemepsi, if revving beyond 8,000rpm and making heaps of power then these aftermarket pulleys are a must.
Another alternative is the Fluidyne unit from Extremepsi. I know these were pretty popular and dont break the bank - nor do they need servicing: http://www.extremepsi.com/store/product.php?productid=20790
You can read extremepsi's description about ATI's damper here and what the difference is between it and the Fluidyne unit: https://www.extremepsi.com/store/product.php?productid=19827

From looking around it seems that balancer is suited to all 1G and 2G motors, like advertised here- http://www.xtremefabrications.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=53_68&products_id=207
hi octane racing also stock them so you could give them a call to check application.

For a stock replacement, something like this? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/rnb-594-106/overview/
