well it looks like I'm going to play tomorrow at the new track IPRA are having a there fun day
as the sigma is still broken from sandown ( state race meet ) I've slide some road tyres on the cordia ( my autocross car ) just to get a first hand look at the track

I'll post a report after the w/e

well a fun day was had at haunted hills on sat 4th :-
so the run down ,as a doctor had not arrived the timed runs could not start - this was good as the track was wet at that stage . WE could go and do some sighting laps which was quite handy we all got 20 - 30 laps in before lunch and at less than race pace haunted hills does show a few of it tricks up at a safer speed
also running my autocross car with some the only mods was removing the rally tyres and fitting some yoky road tyres - any practice is good I dont think I've got this FWD thing sorted

some points of interest
the track starts at the top of a hill so theres no problem getting away as it down hill straight off the start there is a right hand kink again no probs not enough speed
by turn 2 you can gather quite a bit of speed and its a left off camber turn still going down hill ( under steer was a problem I think would be easier with a RWD under power to keep the rear out )the under steer does make it a bit hard to get turn 3 right
anyway turn 3 is another right hand still down hill and if you haven't stuffed up turn 2 it easy to power through the short straight to turn 4 seams to have enough room to use a all the track and you end up in the right spot - hard on the left hand side ready for turn 4
here it gets interesting turn 4 is right hand down a steeper bit of down hill ( and even a 4g37 N/A cordia can get good speed there ) you have to apex late to set up for turn 5 a off camber left hand that in the cordia under steers a lot
then there Oh Sh*t corner this is not that hard but
be warned it has bitten quite a few in fact a nissan skyline was on its roof there only 2 weeks ago
the problem is that you dont see a corner till you go over a rise the its a right hand kink and down a steep little section
the natural thing to do is back off or brake Dont do it
the go is to staight line it the best you can keep the power on and brake hard at the bottom when the car loads up the suspention
from here its all fairly easy and mostly uphill some quite steep and more off camber-

after BBQ lunch we got some timed runs in my best was a 1:10.4 and a mate also ran in my cordia got a 1:09.99
which is on the limit for the car
I need to get a sigma fixed and go back I think it should run 10 sec faster

sounds like fun, I wish I could have gone, good times though

did you get any vids

no vids but with some luck there will be some pics

times were slow for the class
but in fairness to the car times were good for it
the cordia was running a stock 4g37 NA ( not a lot of power )
std suspention and stock F/E settings ( could have used some more camber )
std cordia brakes
and 185/50 14 tyres

I will get the engine out of the sigma now to fix a holed piston hopefully be ready for sandown sprint on cup day

i went to haunted hills on sunday to watcg the atc cars, just thought i would chuck up a couple of pics so you can get a better idea of the track
