Anyone know what its roughly worth to have the head on a 4g63 removed and serviced.

Like take head off, re seat valves, new seals guides and re-fit etc?

Depends what has to be done once it's off. Basic head reco i'd be budgetting around 700ish.

Valve jobs, porting & polisihing etc budget around 1200, can go upto 2k for full comp heads. Also depends who does it and how much exp they have.

Remember to look into the shop you're considering. Best way to look into them is to ask a few of the older mechanics around town for their opinions. Get at least 4 diff peoples opinions. then go talk to the shops themselves

/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\ solid advice right there

parts on my head cost about 2g, but i did replace everything except the head itself. new cams, guides, valves, lifters.rocker arms etc...
it adds up pretty quickly

Mechanic is steve knight in adelaide.

Standard head, removed, freshened up with standard gear and refitted.

Nothing crazy.

i had this done not long ago to one of my galants that i had,
but i took the head off my self and with all the bits still
in there; I had it dismantled, cleaned-blasted, valve regrind,
faced, set heights, final cleaned and assembled for $227.

This was done by Lonsdale Engine Worx which is 5min away
from Steve Knight.

So i guess you just have to add couple of hours of labour for removing
and refitting the head. Which shouldnt be more then $300

Thnks mate , perfect answer

I beleive that might be the place hes planning on using actually, he just had the head done on his E6 himslef and it was about the 225 mark

Ill get him to do new timing belts etc whilst there.

How many hours you rekon itd take for a mechanic (charge out) for head removal install?

4?
