I have a problem here. To get a roadworthy cert and clear vic roads records i need to get 2nd hand springs or heat comp, to raise my car height atleast 40mm. My car height lowest point now is 75mm from the flex pipe everywhere else is around 110mm. Can i have my existing springs compressed to raise height? Or should i find 2nd hand springs to raise height? Whats the better alternative? I dont have a fat wallet.

Any help needed, cos my cars already overdue defect notice by 3 days!.

 :( :?

well are you going to keep yopur car at that height or return it to its current height after the defect is cleared?

IMO id start looking for a set of stockies (given that they will take you up to a legal height)... that gives you the flexibility of reverting back to your current height when you please, and then you'll always have the set there for times like this...

would probably end up cheaper that way...

Cheapest option is to buy stock springs. But in the meantime save up and buy a set of adjustable coil overs and set it to exactly the way you want. Remember that 100mm off the ground isnt enough when the car is empty. You have to be 100mm at the lowest point when the car is fully laden!!! This means when you have a tank full of juice and a car load of people. A smart Inspector will ask your/his mates to sit in the car and then measure the height and I have heard of this happening the bastards

yo evo-oox what you mentioned about haven a full load and full tank is what the coppah said to me. lol But i should be fine at VIC road check, up cos a friend i had, he had his car checked with spacers fitted to clear 110mm no driver. All the inspector did is get the roller and then get the driver to sit in car then he passed.

I guess i c what i can find here on T4G for a set of used ones.

Forget about re-wrapping them

Heat treating them to lower the car can be done, but to raise it im not sure..

its around $45 a spring

so $180 for your troubles..not worth it.

dont heat treat
i had a set crack from that

go for stock

I'd take ur advice then i will try to get a set of 4 spring coils to clear defect. Btw whats an estimate cost for 4? Id expect $100-$150 :? :? :? :? Anyone have a clear clue? Just 4 stock coils.

can glxi springs fit gsr coilover shocks?

Hi, can anyone suggest if the std GLXi springs fit just back or can all 4 springs fit GSR? need help here!. cos i got offered $30 for glxi and std gsr $80.

John..

If you do what chris used to do theres no need to get the back springs just put stock springs in the front leave lowered springs in the back... get passed easy. But take my advice from what i have seen... this aint the sickest look to have :D Before doing chaps laps get the lowered fronts back in.

haha good idea though. id take chris stunt into action. But dude i already got a set of 4 gsr stock springs. $50. To get em compressed to fit in mounts $120 for 4!!!!!!

U reckon its worthwhile?
