The only reason that got publicity was because people tried to import it from Japan. Plenty of "games" like that here.
 
All I want is a little luck with this damn thing. Got the piston rings yesterday, fitted them and put the pistons back in. Get the torque wrench to tighten up the conrod cap nuts to spec (38ft lbs according to the 4g63 factory manual). Just as the wrench cracks the bolt just breaks clean off! I think WTF and double check the torque settings on the wrench. All is good so I pull that piston back out as I've got to get another bolt for it. Try the same procedure with conrod in cylinder 2. First bolt torques perfectly. Second does exactly the same as that first bolt!

So I gave up for the evening for fear of destroying all the rest of the bolts. So much for getting a good start on the rebuild. Have ordered 4 more so I can replace both on rods 2 & 3, although am wondering if I should just get a full set of 8 ordered and do them all.

Also, anyone know if I have to use a press to get the bolts out of the bottom of the conrods?
 
Have gone and ordered the full set and will replace them all. I also found out that I was looking at the 1G 4G63 engine specs for torquing. Can't be much different for 2G rod end caps, can it?

Yes. 1G has 38lbs/ft while a 2G 7-bolt engine which includes ours uses only 14.5lbs/ft plus a 90* turn. I can7t believe my own stupidity of assuming it would be the same and not thinking to check has set me back another week on this damn thing :(
