Hi everyone,

I have a bit of a problem.

I opened the sunroof on my evo 1 gsr but can't close it.

It closes almost all the way, but stops and reverses a few inches.
I checked for obstructions, anything jammed. It all looks clean.

It opens up great. But when I try to close it it doesn't go all the way and backs of 1-2 inches.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Im having similar issues with mine where it won't pop up at the back properly when opening it with the left hand switch..When I open it right back it doesn't close flush with the roof either...Sometimes I wonder if they are more trouble than they are worth...
Will be watching this thread to see what people suggest / come up with...

Generally that kinda thing is to do with the cables not the motor. The cables can get rusty or hunky with dirt and grime and the seize and not move far.

I don't know much about lancer sunroofs, but most have a manual override to close them. Ie a cover to remove and turn shaft with a spanner.

This is true. My experience was with a pajero one it would move both directions a cm or so and stop there even though you could still hear motor trying to work. When we tried to move to manually it was moving about the same coz one of the cables was jammed full of gunk from the last 20years. We put like our whole body weight into it and it still wouldn't budge. Used a whole can of wd40 and nothing. But the motor was fine and definatly wasn't a current/grounding issue like we get in window regs every now and again

Managed to close it.

I discovered there is an access to the motor drive hidden under a plastic cap on the passenger side.

With a hex and ratchet, I managed to close it manually. I guess the glass part was misaligned and caught on something.

It will remain closed for now until I have time to adjust it.

Thanks all!
