Ignition leads are shot.

Check the plugs to see if one of them has burnt an end off.

10 to 1 your leads are sparking against something.

How can you say this is definately the problem. Most fo the time if the leads are ****** it will miss on idle, miss on acceleration and on cruising.....Not just over 3k.

I would say Cat and possibly timing. But as Dre said it could be A LOT of things! its almost impossible to diagnose a problem like this without seeing the car in person.

Probably because i've had problems similar to this and this was the fault that I had. Thus I repeat what happened to me in hopes that it benefits him.

Having said that, there's a lot of possibilites as this thread shows, thankfully none of them are really expensive and most are easy to test for. Just start knocking them off the list. Could try starting with the catalytic convertor (unbolt it and start/run the car with it off, put it back on and get it fixed if it fixes the problem).

An open mind is the best place to start

If ive learnt anything its to start with the simplest things first..

and i would have to say start with the Airflow meter plug..check its in ,check the wires and check the plug isnt missing any connections or has any **** in it...

Does the SOHC have distributor..if so it may be related in some way to that..
as i said look at the basics first..what fires the motor and then move on..connections of leads, connections of plugs..etc..etc..

The cataltyic converter is quite valid, tap it,if it sounds like stones in a tin its collapsed on itself..though i have myself witnessed a collapsed cat,the particular one i seen robbed the car of power,it never missed or stalled.

Good luck.
