I have an interesting problem with this fkn EVO now :fuuuuu:

I have no idea where to even start with this one.

Any help is appreciated

Ok this is what I have....

1/ drive your evo like any normal person
2/ come up to a round about - larger one so can carry good speed if you would like
3/ just about to hit apex of round about to suit my exit
4/ stand on the throttle because i can

5/ car will stall hard
6/ lift off throttle immediately
7/ car comes back to life again
8/ being pissed off with evo once again, I stand on the throttle again
9/ huge puff of smoke out the exhaust (colour unknown)
10/ pulls away like it should

So after initial stall and pull off the throttle it's fine from then on. The car had over 1/2 a tank of fuel.

This issue has come up a couple of times before but not so harsh as it did last night. Each time the car is WOT and turning a right hand corner.

Please help, has anyone had this before??

secondary fuel pump?? sorry for the stupid question

2 tanks in an evo 2 pumps in an evo/gsr.
The primary pump is the one that sends it to the motor the secondary is the one that sends fuel from the left hand side.

PS: i just read ur problem again and its about right hand turns which prob would rule out the sec pump but not the primary. The pumps in the cars are getting abit old now (15 years +) so it may be just ur pump..

mine does similar when i do a hard RH U-turn...

Other than that, ignition leads & plugs? Back when I had the 4G93, The car would stall or stutter when driving normally at 60+ kph for no apparent reason, and it turned out to be dodgy iginition leads....

my brothers proton satria has the same problem. RH roundabout too. same one on his way to work everyday..

he disconnected and reconnected his ISC AFM IGN, and a couple of others, and he has said that it's gone...

strange problem, but always the same roundabout.. generally carrying speed.

Weird....

Thanks guys

The car runs standard management and is only running 8psi

I will check the pumps today

I don’t think there are two pumps on the Evo 2's, what there is when I pulled a tank out is a filter and fuel balance sender. From what I can see the return fuel from the engine comes back through the right hand side and through a combo fitting.

This causes the effect like siphoning and will move the fuel from left to right side. If the left side is kinda blocked, this would cause less fuel to move across.

What are the fuel levels when this happens?

Also note that if you have crap fuel preassure then this would also cause an issue

Also, other than a normal 'fuel issue' response, just check if your 02 sensor wiring isnt located down low near the driveshafts on the exhaust pipe. Sometimes they are isntalled there. If so perhaps the wires are getting moved when you turn the steering rack.

I'l be doing most of the work myself

TD06-20G
GT Pumps EVO III manifold
All manifold gaskets and head studs replaced
HKS timing belt and balance belt plus all other required items
Adjustable Cam Gears
Cooling system overhaul
All hoses replaced
560cc EVO VIII MR injectors
Fuel Pumps (walbro lift with Bosch 044)
Surge Tank in boot
Sard Reg
Battery to boot
Cold Air Box
Custom Intake to Turbo
Tyres KU31's
Cusco Engine Mount Kit
Flash Tune
DBA4000 series slotted rotors all round and some new pads (pads undecided)

Nothing to over the top just a few basics

trust me dont move the battery in the boot ive had alot of issues with hard to start when cold and its all down the battery:fuuuuu:

Many people, quite a few on this forum, have moved the battery to the boot without any dramas mate,
Perhaps its something else related to that? Because there shouldn't be any issues.
How have you completed the relocation?

yeah ive done it when i did the conversion and i thought it was something else, i talked to meek about it and he said that he has seen so many with this problem and it all came down to the battery in the boot something to do with voltage drop to the fuel pump

Hopefully one of these things fixes your issue.
