Many people, quite a few on this forum, have moved the battery to the boot without any dramas mate,
Perhaps its something else related to that? Because there shouldn't be any issues.
How have you completed the relocation?

I have no issues with my battery in the boot?

im going to put it back in the engine bay and see if it makes a difference ill let you guys know, what gauge wire did you run??

i ran 4gauge wire from a junction box located in the engine bay to the battery and connected all the wires going to the battery orginally to this junction box, then earthed the battery in the boot

well thats a good start then, i did put a multi on it to check the drop and it was fu*k all and it cranks over fine so i thought it would be ok

I'd definitely swap that 4 gauge out for something a bit heavier. I used 0, but 2 should suffice. If you think a voltage drop to the fuel pump is your problem, why don't you run a (fused) direct feed to a new relay near the pump and use the stock wiring to trigger it? Won't cost more than a few $$ and a an hour or two of your time, and will eliminate that as a problem. It's a good idea to upgrade the fuel pump wiring if you're going to install a bigger in-tank pump anyway.

Shit yeah, 4 gauge is definitely not up to the task dude. I agree with Steve, keep it in the boot if you can and save that extra space up front for a CAI .

You will have a problem with voltage drop if you dont wire the fuel pump correctly and actually if you just throw it in using the stock wiring in the cradle its not going to give you full potential. If done correctly you will actually get voltage increase to the fuel pump instead! Stock wiring supplies about 7-10 volts to the fuel pump maximum, going either of the 2 ways below will give you 11-13v and sometimes more! The extra few volts gives a massive increase in Walbro or any other aftermarket fuel pump flow.

I have included 2 diagrams below for you that I did up to show you a couple of ways to install the Walbro fuel pump.

First is a typical install with the battery in the engine bay, a 30A fuse and a 30A relay (use minimum 2g cable, pereferably 0g).

Second is my setup with the battery in the boot (the 60A circuit breaker is optional but I wanted it so I can use it as a cut off switch to the fuel pump).
For this I used 8g cable for the Walbro power feed. Basically 8g cable from the positive battery terminal to the circuit breaker, to 30A fused relay, to fuel pump.
I also used 0g cable from the positive terminal on the battery, to 120A circuit breaker, to the starter motor, then to the main electrical fuse box in the engine bay.

thanks heaps  ill do it this arvo and let you know how i go

I removed the questioned Walbro intank fuel pump to find all sorts of issues once again.

To start the wrong the pump was installed was it was also the incorrect model for the EVO so it was an absolute prick to get out of the tank.

The model used had the pick up filter thingy folded in half to get it in and out of the tank which obviously creates 2 issues. This was because the wrong model was used and had the filter thing on the wrong side to suit the wiring.

1/ Reduction in available area to draw in the fuel
2/ where it was folded in half it was blocking the balance pipe to the other side of the tank.

I then tested to stamped Walbro fuel pump to find it was a copy :( as I had thought it was. I tried to test it again about 30 mins after removal to show the misses and it wouldn't even fkn work.

Apart from the wrong model used, the pick up filter all folded up and cross over piping block by the filter the pump was also extremely poorly installed.

The return line, balance pipe and external line from the top of the pump both all had the 'O' rings all out of shape so there was gaps everywhere.

Just goes to show that when purchasing a fuel pump for your car always ensure a genuine pump and not some EBay copy is used.

Issue has been resolved :)

Yah I'm finally starting to move forward.

It was the dodgy fkn whinebro copy that was in the tank.
