Hi All.

JMFCC1M1RJ0....

I am hoping someone can help decipher this for a friend?

There isn't much information I can find on this. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the quick responses.

As I suspected in both cases.

Searching for 3 letter words like Vin doesn't work.
If someone knows of a thread with explanation, or another site/document, would be great.

Ah I see where this went wrong. I was referring to my car when I wanted to confirm. I didn't mean I literally rang Mitsubishi for him. Lol

What year model is the car and can you get the body number that's on the firewall above the brake booster?

I think you have missed the digit between M and 1. It should be either 2 or 4.

So if its a JMFCC1M(2or4)1RJ then its a 1.5l engine(4g15), manual, 2 or 4 door, built in 1994

10/94

Check this photo out which shows I haven't missed any numbers (I am keeping the rest private as it isn't mine)
I have known this type of thing to happen to old Holdens/Fords etc but Mitsu's?

Whilst I have your attention can anyone tell me if 4G63RSXXXX means anything?

EVL20T/evp-gsr what do you suspect? I can possible obtain a body number tmrw...maybe

Oh and I will have to call Mits, to confirm/clarify on Monday.

Just a list a have for comparison

JMFCC6H21RJ###### - 1994 2DR 1.8 EFI AUTO
JMFCC5H21RJ###### - 1994 2DR 1.8 EFI MAN

JMFCC2M21RJ###### - 1994 2DR 1.5 CARBY AUTO
JMFCC1M21RJ###### - 1994 2DR 1.5 CARBY MAN

JMFCC2M21SJ###### - 1995 2DR 1.5 CARBY AUTO

JMFCC1M41PJ###### - 1993 4DR 1.5 CARBY MAN
JMFCC5H41RJ###### - 1994 4DR 1.8 EFI MAN
JMFCC1M41SJ###### - 1995 4DR 1.5 CARBY MAN

JMFCC7S41SJ###### - 1995 4DR 1.8T EFI MAN

JMF = MMC CBU Prod. (World Manufacturer Identifier)
CC = Model Code (Vehicle ID)
1 = Man 1.5 Carby, 2 = Auto 1.5 Carby, 5 = Man 1.8 EFI, 6 = Auto 1.8 EFI, 7 = Man EFI 1.8 DOHC TURBO (Trans ID)
M = Carby, H = EFI, S = EFI TURBO (Engine ID)
2 = 2DR, 4 = 4DR (Body ID)
# = ? (i've only seen a "1" in this spot, so it could be in relation to the above number or below letter)
N = 1992, P = 1993, R = 1994, S = 1995 (Built Year)
J = Japan MMC Prod. (Assembly Plant Code)
###### = (Chassis Number)

So from the VIN you gave I can say its a (edited coz you missed the number "4" in the 1st post but clearly shows on the plate you just uploaded)

JMFCC1M41RJ###### - 1994 4DR 1.5 CARBY MAN

4G63 is the 2ltre engine code, I have no idea how to decipher the RS####, but there are a few types of 4G63 engines, without pics no one can tell

Types of 4G63

VR4 DOHC TURBO
EVO 1/2/3 DOHC TURBO
RVR DOHC TURBO
ECLIPSE DOHC TURBO

GALANT DOHC N/A
RVR DOHC N/A
GALANT SOHC N/A
NIMBUS SOHC N/A
CORDIA SOHC N/A

and few others

Thanks mate... Long day and I see exactly what you mean now.

I think I read all the posts too fast.... Anyway the pic doesn't lie.

Far cry from the Evo it's posing as.

Thanks again.

Still could be a evo. Rego and plated as a lancer on the dodge.
What im saying is its less work to put lancer plates on a evo than it is to put all the evo bits on a lancer.
Check for the extra bracing at strut towers. Compare to engineers pics on his members ride. Although not impossible to duplicate or add I think this would be the part to pick as a factory instal

Yea but I can understand it. They make in stupid hard to rego the genuine article, for what?
We cant say we are trying to protect the aussie car industry!!! Cause thats gone. I wonder if that means we will drop the import duty on imported cars seeing we have sfa local cars now
