Hey team,

Where can we get aftermarket engine mounts for our cars?
Mine is a 1989 HG GSR E33A, and the ones from Mitsi are way too much - I need aftermarket ones, I kno they've gotta be out there..

I need front and rear - surely these must be the same in the VR-4's?
Any assistance appreciated, I'm deperate. :?

If you have time,Which no one does.

Take them out one by one..take them to a place the deals with polyurethane moulds and have them poly injected in about a 70 Duro grade.

This is not a bad idea..

I should ring for quotes, but where do u reckon I start calling? Ie: type of shop?

Thanks guys.

more like a place were they do blow moulding and or rubber gaskets or so.....

super cheap auto sells aftermarket engine mounts, i just got a set of 4 for the vr4 for 404.40+freight, and yes the vr4 ones are different to the gsr galant.

I got the tools for the job, but has anyone else already changed their mounts at home? Do you need to jack the block (not from sump) somehow to get the front one out first and only 1 at a time of course?

Yes do it one at a time, its really not too bad a job,the rear one i though would be a real pain but was quiet easy, just come over the back of the inlet plenum with a couple of extension bars joined together..

The front is easy, the sides are ok too..the drivers side from memory has to have the wheel removed and accesed from inside the guard, theres blank plastic plugs you remove...

as for the duro 70 poly..youd have to take them to a company that deals with that

take them one by one and have them filled,if you can.
Im sure they can come up with something if you supply the mount and the bolt that goes through the centre.

and yes..use a jack to support the engine

thats a tad on the expensive side, i will get supercheap retail price on the gsr ones tomorrow

Cheaper again - dude, that would be awesome. I only have a couple of weeks to get this thing ready.

So far Repco and Mitsi have quoted me:
Front $90.XX
Rear $209.XX

Autobarn can be generally price'er on stuff, but the cheapest so far with the mounts.

The weird thing was Repco supply the Kelpro ones, but were quoting similar prices to Genuine.

supercheap prices

MT8541 - $61.03
MT8286 - $45.53
MT8796 - $139.13
MT8797 - $93.99

total - $339.68 (jan07)

note: these aren't stocked lines and need to be ordered, ask for motospecs as the supplier, usually takes about 2 days for them to get to the store you order from, it's unusual for repco to charge so much  genuine is usually cheeper than them
