Just wondiner if anybody's installed a high level rear brake light? Wondering how you'd go about doing this. Ain't much i can find searching.

My car's lacking a rear wing, so I'd like to install probably an LED strip. Not sure how you wire it up. Chances are I'll be needing to install something to pass blue slip. Might see if can change normal bulbs to LEDs too...

Thanks

if your just gonna used an led strip then use a test light to determine which wires from your tailights to use..then just bump it off that...easy as..

I'll check if the wiring is still there :) there seem to be a few LED light strips on ebay, varying from $3 to $100. Jaycar don't seem to have too much.

been tryina check out LED brake lights and such, and found this site. From checking their other links, they said galant has tail and brake light number is 2057. Don't know if 5/21W twin filament bulbs can be replaced with LEDs thought?

LED's? Two words man....."Ask Jayrome!" ahaha
He knows how to track down some pretty trippy LED arrays for incandescant replacement.

Good luck with your project man. :)

you can replace them with LED's its just that the tail lights were built around standard bulbs which throw light at an almost perfect 360deg in every axis.. the problem with LED's are that to get a very bright light from an LED (at a cheap price) they are limited to a very small projection angle.. 5mm LED's are probably the brightest atm i think were 60,000MCD but at a very small angle of 15deg....

our old school tail lights use light spreading lenses inside the assembly to evenly spread the light around from one initial point, the LED's on the other hand are all focus beams soo your going to need more to spread the light, in doing so the lens may fight back and bounce the light in a different direction....
