hoons defy police blitz - herald sun

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

Many sydney folk will know of La Perouse and the police efforts there weekly... that sorta shi7 is ruining south sydney's chances at relaxed cops and less targeting..

I went there one day for a simple photo op with some mates, in front of the pretty twinlking lights of the shipyards, only to have a massive sting see my car, my mates cars and about 40 other cars there that night stripped and defected for almost every tiny thing. Cops searched not only for defectable mechanics and mods, but drugs, weapons and "prohibited items".

Pretty much a raid on a whole bunch of f**kwits doing the stupid shi7 they were doing, but as a result of the predjudiced label put on anyone with a non-economical looking vehicle of a 'hoon' we all copped it.

When i got pulled over most recently, the cop that pulled me over didnt have anything on me, and i asked why he pulled me over, so he said to me "mate with a car like that, what the hell do you expect? do you think your not gonna be targeted?"

My response went along the lines of "can you provide me with an opinion on something that is not biased by the fact that you are a pig?" which didn't make him a happy chappy and he attempted to defect me for a scratched away h-pad on the gear knob...

The worst thing is that the cops look at every person they pull over with the same negative attitude and bias and prejudice that they do every other wanker they have pulled over, cuz they are only human too.
cops suffer the same petty bullshit feelings as everyone else, as a result, honest, law abiding, enthusaists or lovers of their car, end up being targeted, chastised and copping the brunt of stereotypical, vendetta wielding, bad attitude having, power tripping cops.

not fair in reality.. but then again, as it has been said many times in this thread already, it is always the minority that spoil it for the majority...

to actually be able to drive past a cop without worrying about being targeted, tailed & pulled over then patronised, abused, mocked, threatened and my name going down having been pulled over.... that would be amazing...

I don't go looking for cops, noone does... who the f would wanna, but cops definately target "us"...

Dont even get me started on media and the whole "hoon" thing... I got to pick one of my uni assignments this semester and I am doing it on the legislation up here... There are even articles everywhere saying everything we already know, and that has been mentioned here... but noone will ever do anything about it... The media need something to talk about...

LOL at 'thomastown, campbellfield' areas !

As mentioned before, yes these people are abit silly, but where are they supposed to go? the closest place is calder raceway, and its fkn closed!

Doesn't matter if Calder Park is open, closed or whatever - you DON'T do it on public roads. You find a driving school (Driver Dynamics for example), pay your money and do a full day of racing at Sandown or wherever in a controlled environment. That idiot who was quoted as saying "I've spent $17K on my car....." should get his hand off it and spend another $250 on learning how to drive his car properly and safely during a supervised and controlled racing day.

"Campbellfield, Somerton, Thomastown and Tullamarine"

F*#KIN! SOB! im in the F*#KIN MIDDLE!!!!!

Iam not anymore! :w00t:

They have an alternative. "DRAG TAG" they just like trying to drive around in cars they cant afford! Drag Tag offers a great facility. Safe everyone can see the action and they even have a burn-out strip and gymkana(?) track and all in Campbellfield.

These guys are tossers that cant drive and have shit cars cause as said before anyone who has spent serious cash on their cars are enthusiasts and would not bother doing a burnout with tyres that cost over 1k for a set.

100% correct with what Clutz said paying the money you do at Calder or even $250 for a drive day is way too much there is not many people who can afford that twice a week.

This is a problem there is an option Drag tag!

the one thing i hate about all this BS is over here in Adelaide we get shown all the footage from all these wankers interstate doing burnouts and huge meets etc.

They make it sound like its here and then we cop shit from the public and cops.

I'll be happy if the cops just target the bogans doing skids and not generalise and pick on all imports as well.

my problem with it all is we all (car enthusiests) are painted with the same brush. weather we are the bogan doing skits, the trackday racers that do it properly, even general people that just want a nice looking car.
there are always going to be the people that ruin it for the rest. i mean your not ment to kill people but people get murdered and killed all the time.
it will never go away. i i firmly beleave it can be reduced if people are given a place to go. like dre said with golf, people are gonna do it, take that place away, there gonna find somewhere else to go.

I'm pretty sure Drag Tag shut down ages ago to the public, they are concentrating on selling their driving simulators offshore.

Its never going to be stopped, by the goverment, by the Police, by whoever.
The only way is to deter it.
And I agree with Dre on this one.
More needs to be done to give them a chance, by going somewhere else where they can legally do what they want.
No, this will not completely clear the problem, but it will clean it up a little bit.

Then why has the tendancy for this behaviour on our streets increased as venues are being reduced?? It doesnt matter why people spend money on cars and not on track days or doing it legally, its about providing somewhere for them to get it out of their system. But in doing this the government wouldnt be making anywhere the amount of money as it does from "investing" in more police to cash in on the "hoons" behaviour.

With all these restrictions placed on young peoples cars, the whole "hoon" law thing and the police "units" being formed around these issues we still have no result on it reducing our road toll or number of illegal drivers.

There was a great media story on the Sunday program I think where a bloke did a thesis on Hoons and he said that most enthusiasts are just people who congregate together with a similar interest much like our meet nights, He said that only a very very small number are irresponsible! But it was funny seeing the interviewer trying to say they are all hoons the program didn't really care what the Thesis had found just that they mentioned the word Hoons a lot and Young people! google it you might find something!

Increased? more like the media focus on it, shit this stuff has been going on forever.

Im not saying it hasnt been going on forever, only that the amount and frequency of "hoons" on our roads and incidents caused has jumped dramatically, take for example the noble park riots with the numbers quoted at in the thousands, cant recall any other similar events occuring in the past.
