Hey guys i have a spare engine sitting in the shed it has a 7 bolt crank ? Anyway how do i tell if its a rvr or a evo engine? and whats going to be the big difference ?
There's a link in one of my posts there to some RVR engine pics... dead giveaway would be a CAS sensor on the front timing cover as per pic below:
If you do have an RVR engine, the better is the one like the EVO 3 engine. The other engine based on the 2G Eclipse block is crap and I'd steer people away form them if possible.
Repending on it's year of manufacture, the RVR / Chariot engine will have the crank angle sensor at the front end of the crank shaft and is not adjustable. And is not located at the rear end of a camshaft.
Some newer version RVR will have the crank sensor at end of camshaft. (1997+)
